stoutlover72 (1309), NorCal, California, USA May 2, 2008 I’ve had this before and refrained from adding an entry until I tried 1-2 other bombers. I had one last night and honestly, the beer has too much of an asprin-like aftertaste that I didn’t enjoy any of the times I’ve had it. The aroma was really nice...a fresh blast of citrusy goodness comes shooting out of the glass. That’s where the fun stops though. Hops seemed earthy somehow, with a bit of medium sweet malts with the aspirin finish. Not enough hop or malt interaction for my liking. I do like my IPA’s to be a little more hop-forward with some nice malt backing, but this didn’t have either to the level I typically enjoy. Still, for the price you pay it’s not bad. But I do enjoy other AV products much more.
cbeers21 (344), Miami, Florida, USA Jul 3, 2008 Nice pour, with solid head. Decent amount of hops on the nose, certainly not overhwlming. Very nicely balanced brew. THe cereal wheatiness and light piney/citrus is balanced by a caramel/sugary quality which provides a nice dance of flavor. Enjoyable and quite quaffable. daforrds (176), richmond, Indiana, USA Jul 2, 2008 David Tua was a whirlwind, until he fought lennox lewis, and he was exposed as a one trick pony. Now a fringe contender that just can not quite get to the top and is always just a punch a way from being a champ. Angeloregon (1464), Portland, Oregon, USA Jun 30, 2008 From a 12 ounce bottle. Couldn’t drink just one. Poured a handsome copper-amber body with a sticky whitish head. Nose of bold floral hops and caramel maltiness. Big and bitter all the way through, but balanced with citrus character and malts. Leans on the hoppier of hoppy IPAs. Very delicious! joekinty (145), rockledge, Florida, USA Jun 29, 2008 infected bottle taste like shit i want my money back bitches dont buy this one unless you check the neck twitcher (94), framingham, Massachusetts, USA Jun 24, 2008 bottle. Pours a deep amber color with a big inch-thick fluffy head that sticks around, lots of active carbonation and lacing. Loads of hops on the nose, huge grapefruit bite. Flavors follow the nose- all hops. Big sharp bitterness, loads of grapefruit citrus flavors, with minimal and muted malt flavors. Definitely on the unbalanced side of IPAs, and clearly intended to be that way. Average on the palate, if a bit on the light and thin side.
