Belgian wheat beer aged in white wine barrels and allowed to become very slightly sour. This is a wonderful session beer for those of the “sour and funky” persuasion.

Draft at Taps Beer Bar, Changkat, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a hazy reddish brown with a thin broken white head. The aroma is acid citrus. The flavour is light sour with a crisp, light, grainy fruit, light vinous, light dough biscuit palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation. A fine session "sour". So much better than I expected.

Draft to taster at Ei8ht Ball from notes. Pours a hazy orange amber color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have pale wheat malts, tart citrus, some funk, oak, a shot of white wine spritzer, ok soft sour.

Draft. Poured hazy dark amber color with an average frothy off-white head that mostly lasted with fair lacing. Moderate wheat and sour yeast aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium sour flavor with a medium sour finish of moderate duration. Good drinkable beer.

phaleslu (9019) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - APR 2, 2016
Draft at Ei8ht Ball, served in a flight. Pours a cloudy orange with a hint of red and a small white ring that lasts quite a while. Notes of vanilla, stone fruit, oak, brown sugar, fruity funk, wheat, and a bit of earth. Medium-bodied, with moderate carbonation and a tangy, sour, sweet mouthfeel. Should definitely be reclassified as a sour/wild ale, but I’ll leave that up to the California admins.

Rating #1492 - The Columbus Review - 3.13.2015 On tap @revolutionyeg #SourNFunk2015 Expectations shattered. Was expecting a mildly funky belgian style wheat beer. Hazy golden pour, bubbly white head. Aroma is brett and oaky chardonnay. Medium carbonation, crisp mouthfeel, lots of barrel and funk notes accented by soft fruits, citrus. Delightful

Crabapple nose, slight touch of butter. Hazy amber, medium head. Crabapple, twigs, funk. Finishes more distinctly wheaty. Light body, easy carbonation. Quite enjoyable when viewed as a nice sour ale. Probably should be reclassed as the catch-all sour/wild ale.

sample @ EBF 2015. almost clear golden orange pour with a small bubbly white head, some retention - from a pitcher. very cheesy lactos, toasted semi-sweet wheat, some orchard fruitiness - peaches, light acidity - somewhat linear, flowers - lavender, light woodsy notes - hint of coconut. average to light carbonation, light body - slightly watery, tart and woodsy-coconuty-herbal-lactic finish.

Sampled from the tap at Hopcat. Pours a clear pale gold with a white head that dissipates slowly to the edges and laces. Aroma has a nice white wind note with tart light fruits and a wheat backbone. Flavor is also white wine forward with a light tart fruit note and some light grains backing.
