True to its Boontling moniker, “Huge Arker” is a massive force of nature that detonates on your tongue. After primary fermentation, the beer is aged in Wild Turkey® Bourbon barrels until it fully matures. The deep mahogany color is evocative of the opulence to follow. Dark luscious aromas of burnished oak mingle with candy sugar, bourbon and hearth-baked bread. The luxurious flavors redolent of honey and molasses are intertwined with the richness of dark chocolate and the ardent warmth of alcohol, underpinned with hints of coffee, vanilla and dark fruits.
ABV from 11% to 13.5% in 2014.

Big bourbon here overpowers the chocolate and char malt base. Tanins are present with booze finish.

Draft at Taps Beer Bar, Changkat, Kuala Lumpur. 13.5%. Poured a clear dark brown with a frothy light tan head. The aroma is big roasty sweet malt, light molasses, dark chocolate, alcohol. The flavour is moderate sweet with a rich smooth, fruity, liqourice alcohol, light vanilla, light dry coffee palate and an oily mouthfeel. Full bodied with flat carbonation. Very nicely balanced with well hidden alcohol.

Draught at TAPS in KL. Thick black pour with creamy soft tan head that coats the glass. Aroma is bourbon, wood, licorice, vanilla. Taste is big roasted malt with rich warm leather and bourbon, booze, and smoothed out bitterness. Palate is intensely creamy (too much for this warm weather!) with soft carbonation. Finish lasts with lots of boozy warmth and some bitterness. Big big stout that’s a great exemplar of bourbon barrel aging, but a bit too licorice-y and not enough bitterness for my taste.

Smell is medium light vanilla and oak...taste is vanilla and hot alcohol on front...sweet and oaky on back...very diverse... Little too hot on alcohol to be smooth...but not so bad it’s unpleasant

Cellared for one year, no bottle date so don't know age. Nose is pretty subdued with mainly bourbon and a hint of chocolate. Taste is mainly bourbon with a hint of chocolate. The flavors must have really mellowed because it's pretty much one note - bourbon. Medium mouthfeel. Alcohol is present with significant warming in the chest. I think the cellaring has let a lot of the complexity fade leaving a pleasant, fairly easy drinking bourbon flavor. Above average but would have liked more chocolate, roast, and overall more complexity. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draft at Ei8ht Ball, served in a flight. Pours a cloudy dark brown with a small beige head that laces the glass while settling into a ring and an island of film. Big cocoa, with fudge, mild roasted malts, residual sugars, caramel, oak, and toffee. The bourbon is subtle here. Medium-bodied, with moderate carbonation and a sweet, mildly toasty and roasty mouthfeel. I expected this to be way more in my face, but the barrel aging isn’t profound; must be a strong base and/or a short aging.

Nice strong medium brown head of very fine bubbles. Reduces very slowly. Rich aroma with lots of butter toffee, roasted malts, light bourbon, oak and some sweet cany sugar. A hint of funky sourness in the nose also. Color is a very dark brown. Very rich flavor with loads of sweet malts, butterscotch, brown sugar, chocolate and more alcoholic bourbon. Quite the hot brew but is somewhat balanced out by the solid malt bill backing the brew up. Alcohol burn and warming on the swallow. No funkyness detected in the taste like was apparent in the aroma. Finishes hot and sweet and smooth and very tasty. A bit out of balance but still a very potent ant tasty brew.

Wow. On tap at Bailey’s Taproom in Portland, OR. Black pour with a big beige head. Aroma and taste of bourbon and roasted malts. Hints of chocolate and dark fruits. Sweet and bourbon, but not overpowering.

Really dark brown color with creamy, mocha head. Aroma is full-on bourbon, caramel, fudge and butterscotch. Taste follows with the fudge and caramel, chocolate cake, bourbon and a roasty bitter finish. Slightly boozy but it’s not bothering at all. Full bodied, smooth mouthfeel with just the right amount of carbonation. A really well made bourbon barrel aged imperial stout which I think should get more attention.
