COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
True to its Boontling moniker, “Huge Arker” is a massive force of nature that detonates on your tongue. After primary fermentation, the beer is aged in Wild Turkey® Bourbon barrels until it fully matures. The deep mahogany color is evocative of the opulence to follow. Dark luscious aromas of burnished oak mingle with candy sugar, bourbon and hearth-baked bread. The luxurious flavors redolent of honey and molasses are intertwined with the richness of dark chocolate and the ardent warmth of alcohol, underpinned with hints of coffee, vanilla and dark fruits.
ABV from 11% to 13.5% in 2014.

22 grudgingly picked up at the COOP for $14... It is as much as $21 at other places around town. Shared tonight with a work buddy.. Dark tan 1" head.. Nice retention.. Decent lacing.. Dark malt and brownie batter on the nose... The flavor shows better bourbon barrel character with plenty of dark malt and vanilla.. Good body, but not huge, well made without needing time to rest in the bottle.

Bottle. Black pour with a short tan head. Toasted malt, dark fruit notes, booze and vanilla in the nose. Taste is vanilla, molasses, roasted malt, dark fruit and booze. Body is medium with a soft bubbly carbonation. Rather sweet and sticky throughout with a mild warmth. Finishes with more vanilla, booze, sweet malt, toasted grains, caramel and dark fruit

5 oz. Sampler at the Lodge on Hilton Head Island. Definitely one of the stronger beers I have tasted. Still quite a good sipping beer.

Bottle: dense, medium head and good lace. Very dense, funky, porty, stuck ferment, aldehyde or VA. Inky and glazed plums. Slightly sweet, not sour and bitter. The RS masks it. This beer is funky and faulty. Dark chocolate and coffee with molasses. This is a very dense beer but it’s poorly made. The density and flavor are interesting.

Black pour from draft at Emporium. Thick and silky mouthfeel. Big bourbon chocolate and heavenly taste. I need to have this again. Wow

Bottle to snifter Huge bourbon aroma, caramel, molasses, and dark chocolate hidden in the back. Silky black with a thin, but bubbly tan head. Taste is bourbon, but not overpowering so, oak, dark chocolate and coffee notes, vanilla, candied fruit, molasses, and bread. Wow, there’s a lot going on here and although the bourbon hits you right on the head, it’s surprising that this is 13.5%. At least, until I hit the bottom of my glass.

Damn this is good. Pours out dark and syrupy, medium carbonation, tan head. Smells boozy, bourbon, molasses, coffee. Sweet, smooth, rich, burns just a little. Intense, not overwhelming in any way. I feel like this is right up there with some of the more lauded imperial stouts I’ve tried. Will need to pick up a few more.

Pours a deep brownish black from the bottle with thin wisp of tan head that leaves moderate lace. Aroma of sweet whiskey notes over roasted malts, a bit of vanilla, burns the nose like straight whiskey . Taste is more toward the stout, but big bourbon notes and a nice burn on the way down. Sweet and boozy, like stout with a shot of whiskey in it.

Poured from a bomber into a tulip on 05.21.14. A: 2 1/2 finger tan head. Midnight black with some red at the bottom. S: Vanilla, bourbon, cream, brown sugar. T: Bourbon, vanilla dominate. Caramel, brown sugar, woodiness, plum are subtle. M: Creamy. Somewhat chewy. O: The bottle could have used some cellaring because everything was so strong. The alcohol burn was definitely there, but it’s hard to hide with such a high ABV. It’s a big beer and it snuck up on me even though I sipped on it. It was a very good BBA stout.

By far the best Anderson Valley beer I’ve had. Pretty low expectations, in fact, and this one was rich, bold, and velvety. Mahogany bordering onyx with a tightly packed latte foam. Fudge, dark roasted coffee, raisin, brown sugar, and vanilla are all present. Lots of alcohol warmth without the noticeable off-putting flavors. A damn good Impy.
