4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
I do not know how THE LOCAl beer bar in Eureka, CA got some of this but I am glad they did. On draft, it came in the glass a black with a tan head. The nose is the aroma of campfire doused with water, with smoke, and some sour notes. Very full in body with a rich creamy mouthfeel. The flavor is potent, with port, burnt malts, and again that ash. The finish is sour and a great sour it is. If this really sat in a barrel for 7 years it was worth the wait. A very remarkable ale and one of the best barrel aged beers I have ever seen. I loved it.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Brown sugar, lactic acid, plum, the acidity strips all of the stout character, hint of chocolate

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Draft. Pours deep brown with a beige head. Big port barrel/vinous/dark fruity/woody notes, with lighter roasted malts and milk chocolate. A too much time in the barrel.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
tap at Barcade: this beer really picked up the port barrel. rich vineous notes and oaky. Sweet body, some chocolate and roasted malt character. Blends pretty well with the rich wine notes. tannic with some grapey tarts.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Sour, buttery, port wine on the nose. Not good. The appearance is dark black, light tan head. The flavor is sour, dry red wine, light chocolate. The finsh is dry red wine, sour, dark chocolate. Medium in body. Not bad. But really, the port wine flavors don’t improve this beer.

Draft at barcade with max, zack, pearl, blipp and Tom. Pours a deep brownish black with head or lacing. Aroma is sweet, rich port wine. Mouthfeel is thin, almost watery with notes of port, oak, dark fruits, and "acidic twang." (thanks max)

On tap at barcade. This is lovely. Can really taste the port on top of the oatmeal stout. Really like this.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at Apex with mcberko, pours a solid black with a red tint and no head. Aroma of vanilla ice cream, port, oatmeal, dark fruits and candied sugar. Favour of lots of port and hints of sour fruits to start, followed by oatmeal and candied sugar, then turns lightly smokey and woody, but maintains the sweetness throughout. Unusually flavoured. Unsure if it works or not. Palate goes on an interesting journey.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Draft at DBGB in NYC. The menu called it "Anderson Valley Port Barrel Aged Oatmeal Stout". A small, grayish-khaki swirly of foam sits atop a deep cola to mahogany brown body. There’s a nice dark cherry sheen to the edge. A light soapy wash completely rejoins the body below. The aroma shows loads of chocolate covered cherries and darkly toasted oats, burnt caramel, and dry cocoa. A soft, vinous, cherry-grape character is tannic and oaky, with a slightly tart twang to it. Smells nice. Flavors show more silky cocoa dusted cherries and soft malty roast, followed by that drying, vinous, cherry skin tannic finish. Oats are distinct, lending a creamy, slightly chalky taste and feel. The palate is medium bodied, silky, and lightly carbonated, with that aforementioned drying finish. Overall, a very solid and unique beer.

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
On tap at Apex in Portland, split with Matts_Property, pours a red-tinged black with minimal head. Aroma of port, sweet liqueurs and vanilla. Flavour brings out incredibly sour port barrels with a vinous quality. The sourness is not pleasing, hinting at something gone wrong. Barely drinkable.
