guzzler67 (1272), Hanover, Maryland, USA Jul 11, 2007 Dark amber appearance with a small, off white head and no lacing. Sweet aroma of caramel, butterscotch, vanilla and cotton candy. Malty flavors, subdued hops, with the spicyness more noticable in the finish. MrBendo (1039), Swedesboro, New Jersey, USA Jun 29, 2007 Bottle. Clear reddish orange with a medium head. Aroma of toffee and oranges. Tastes brings out a fairly heavy dose of vanilla. Light to medium body. Kind of sweet for a summer brew. But it’s definately interesting. Glad I tried it, but I like the winter soltice much better. shigadeyo (2210), Harrison, Ohio, USA Jun 23, 2007 6/20/2007: Anderson Valley Summer Solstice Cerveza Crema is amber in color with a creamy, lasting, off-white crown. The aroma is sweet and fruity and is dominated mostly by pineapple. The flavor is maltier that expected and has a nice blend of vanilla and citrus with some slight pineapple. The finish is quite creamy with more vanilla coming through. This beer has a medium body and is very smooth with a lightly creamy texture. I have always found Anderson Valley brews to be quite tasty and this is probably one of the best Summer/seasonal beers I have had!
12 oz bottles shared by supa and BeerBob at the Junedale Beer Klub June "Ales of Summer" beer tasting. Thanks guys!
Crit (2399), New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada Jun 18, 2007 Golden, lasting white head. Vanilla aroma. Flavor is a mix of light malts, vanilla, maybe hazelnut? iamandrewgill (12), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jun 16, 2007 interesting cream ale- nice caramel flavor with vanilla aroma. a bit inconsistent, though- the first time I had it the mouthfeel was almost like a root beer float, but the next time it was much thinner. AleDrinker (1090), Sunnyvale, California, USA Jun 11, 2007 Pours golden with a medium lasting head. Aroma is fresh and of oranges and vanilla. Flavor is slightly sweet but still refreshing. Damn, this must be the first time I’ve ever had a cream ale that actually HAS a creamy body. Well done AV. I’m not surprised though, these guys always do a great job. Ambrose (141), East Aurora, New York, USA Jun 6, 2007 Updated: Jan 17, 2008Great beer. very exotic. Like it just came over from persia or sumthing. Love the toffee. Toffee should be made president of the united states. So good on tap people! tagz (334), USA Jun 2, 2007 (draft) what a crazy brew! pours dark red brown. sweet malty flavor with a slight bitter and spice. however, the meat of this one is in the aftertaste. just as it slides down there is a rush of an unmistakable toffee flavor. its very well balanced as well. the sweetness doesn’t weigh down the palate. the burnt toffee and slight bitter provide enough edge to keep it refreshing. a very unique brew that i will definitely try again.
