Complexity. Aged for three months in Wild Turkey Bourbon barrels, this luxurious stout has a deep ebony hue and a beautiful mahogany head. The woody, vanilla-like notes imparted by the barrels mingle with aromas of fresh baked bread, toffee, and espresso and envelop the rich chocolate and roasted barley flavors with a fine bourbon character. Our exclusive partnership with Wild Turkey gives Anderson Valley a world class, consistent source of barrelage, allowing our brewers to explore new frontiers in barrel-aged craft beer.

Pours black with a one finger tan head with nice lacing. Aroma is of bourbon, roasted malts, coffee, molasses, sweet malts, and some light chocolate. Taste is similar to the aroma. Has a medium body with a semi creamy mouthfeel. Overall, a tasty, low alcohol bba stout that features some nice bourbon flavors without the booze that is typical for the style.

(Bottle) Black with good tan head. Nice aroma - toffee, roast barley, bourbon. Medium body, medium carbonation and smooth. Flavor is rich without being overwhelming. Toffee and chocolate up front. Excellent bourbon notes from mid palate to finish. Thereís quite some complexity too with some vanilla notes and some black coffee like bitterness. Excellent. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Aroma is pretty good, chocolate and a little bourbon whiskey, taste is pretty weak for a baby stout, okay

Bottle from Whole Foods Market in Redwood City, CA. Aroma is coffee, vanilla, bourbon. At itís best, this is an uplifting experience for such a boozy whiskey. At worst, reminiscent of a flat whiskey coke. I didnít like this one as much as I thought I would.

Almost opaque drown beer, little head faded to a ring. Aroma is vanilla and chocolate, fairly subdued. Taste is metal, roasty, vanilla, some bourbon, a little plum. Palate is pretty light and thin for an impy. Carbonation subdued. This isnít bad, but itís not epic.

22oz bottle. Pours black with small light brown head. Aroma is roasted chocolate malt and bourbon. Chocolate flavor with plenty of roasty notes and some bourbon character. Medium-bodied with lingering roasty and bourbon finish. Very good.

Bourbon aroma and flavor were excellent! At 6.9% ABV, as "bourbon" as many of the type in the 10% ABV range.

The Bourbon of choice for Hunter S. Thompson and David Foster Wallace, Wild Turkey is known for its burn. It wouldnít be my first choice in whiskey for a barrel-aged Stout, but Anderson Valley has made a surprisingly smooth brew with it. In fact, this Stout is more mild than many other barrel-aged dark ales. Rich barley, subtle vanilla, and cocoa are the most prominent smells and flavors. While you do notice the alcohol, itís tucked nicely under the malt and oak tones. Iíd like a slightly fuller mouthfeel, but otherwise, Wild Turkey Bourbon Barrel Stout leaves little to complain about.

I was in Louisville, and stopped by the local store looking for a bottle of Bourbon Ale or Stout (tastes better there). The guy in the store brought this out and touted its consistency. Interesting to bring out a CA beer even though I was in KY. Very good choice. My only advice is to make sure itís good and cold - it still had a smooth taste while somewhat warm, but after 30 min of hotel ice, the bottom of the bottle was excellent.
