COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Complexity. Aged for three months in Wild Turkey Bourbon barrels, this luxurious stout has a deep ebony hue and a beautiful mahogany head. The woody, vanilla-like notes imparted by the barrels mingle with aromas of fresh baked bread, toffee, and espresso and envelop the rich chocolate and roasted barley flavors with a fine bourbon character. Our exclusive partnership with Wild Turkey gives Anderson Valley a world class, consistent source of barrelage, allowing our brewers to explore new frontiers in barrel-aged craft beer.

From the bottle I am getting hints of smoke, Pour is dark with a thick brown head, Taste is smooth, chocolate, roasted barley, not strong bourbon, overall good beer but send to missing the bourbon flavor.

Tap. Aroma: nuts, woody, smoke - as bourbon should have :) alcohol was preatty strong in a nose, black color, brown foam, rocky head, heavy cloying sweetness, medium bitterness, medium body, oily feel, soft carbonation, long bourbon side finish.

Tap at Roundhouse for Steph's birthday. Pitch place pour thin dense foamy head. Aroma is woody boozy aroma with roasted flavor. Taste is not as big as you'd think. Chocolate mainly and some bitterness. Creamy palate. Not bad but not too special.

(bottle) clear very dark brown colour with a medium tall brown head; aroma starts with wet wood, sour fruit, then roast; mostly dry but balanced flavour with a long; light bitter finish

Tap at 23 Craft Beerz. Nice. Barrel sweetness, vanilla, I’ve cream, roast there in the background. Easy drinking for a barrel stout, but the % is fairly low. Smooth. Not the most complex, but nice.

Bottle. Opaque black brown beer with a large beige head. Aroma is malty with notes of caramel, spices, earthy herbs, nuts and vanilla. Flavor is malty with notes of caramel, toffee, herbs, nuts, vanilla and chocolate. A bit thin but well balanced.

22oz bottle - A decidedly average beer that lacks the support of a great stout and the weak barrel aging does nothing to make this a better product. The aroma starts out with light vanilla notes, light chocolate, treacle with a twinge of acidic/vomit smell lurking about. The barrel/whiskey affect on this beer is extremely mild. Some may love that, but I’d rather have a hefty base beer that can stand up to the BA process. Flavor is of black walnuts with light chocolate and vanilla notes and super soft whiskey nuances. Really, really soft. Very average. Anderson Valley seems to excel at making okay beers.
