Complexity. Aged for three months in Wild Turkey Bourbon barrels, this luxurious stout has a deep ebony hue and a beautiful mahogany head. The woody, vanilla-like notes imparted by the barrels mingle with aromas of fresh baked bread, toffee, and espresso and envelop the rich chocolate and roasted barley flavors with a fine bourbon character. Our exclusive partnership with Wild Turkey gives Anderson Valley a world class, consistent source of barrelage, allowing our brewers to explore new frontiers in barrel-aged craft beer.

Weak aroma (might be a bad pour). Dark, opaque color. Bourbon flavor and aroma immediately hits but quickly dissipates. Finishes quickly and not much body.

Tap at Big Barrel Tararrel 2014. Rather smooth and mellow. Sort of like a milk stout. Brown-black body. Easy going. Chewy caramel chocolate. Graham cracker. Easy going tor a BB aged beer. Tasty and enjoyable. Completely not overbearing.

Dark black in color... Light foam head... Mouthfeel is fairly thin for an imperial stout, not as much rich roasted malt character as I would have liked... Definitely prevalent notes of wild turkey bourbon, light vanilla notes, chocolate, slightly boozy on the finish... Solid

Bomber picked up at AJ’s in Rochester NY. Pours a dark cola colour, massive khaki head, piles of lacing. Nose is nose is sweet, a touch of vanilla, but it all is very subtle. Tastes very soft on the tongue, vanilla, a bit bitter, sweet, a bit chocolate bitter and bourbon.

Draft. Pours near black with a beige head. Sweet whiskey up front, with moderate roasted malts, mild chocolate and molasses sweetness, and more whiskey in the finish. Surprisingly not too boozy despite the hit of whiskey flavor. Pretty good.

Poured from bottle. Aromas of bourbon obviously with some bread. Pours black with tan head. Has a medium bitter taste. Full bodied and creamy texture. Definitely an interesting and complex brew.

Tap - Pours black with small but creamy head. Aroma is a mixture of smoke, bourbon and sweet raisins. In taste good balance of sweetness and bitterness with notes vanilla pudding and coffee in the aftertaste.

65cl bottle shared. Pours black with a low creamy beige head. Aroma is milky sweet, light roastiness, coffee, light whisky notes. Taste is similar, sweet and roastiness, very good coffee aftertaste, lighter mouthfeel than expected. Some whisky again in the finish, very light bitterness.

Geruch mit dezenter Whiskynote, malzig, süß, Kaffee. Start süßsalzig. Mitte dicht Schokolade, röstig, Whisky. Abgang Nougat, Schokolade, moderat bitter. Gutes Bier.

650 ml bottle from Premier Wine and Spirits. Pours a very dark brown with a decent-sized beige head. Aroma is big vanilla and bourbon with more subtle roasty malt. Flavour is also dominated by the barrel with notes of wood, vanilla and bourbon, there’s some underlying coffee and chocolate notes but the stout can’t hold up to the barrel. A little thinner than I’d like. Nice, but a bigger base beer might be better.
