COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Complexity. Aged for three months in Wild Turkey Bourbon barrels, this luxurious stout has a deep ebony hue and a beautiful mahogany head. The woody, vanilla-like notes imparted by the barrels mingle with aromas of fresh baked bread, toffee, and espresso and envelop the rich chocolate and roasted barley flavors with a fine bourbon character. Our exclusive partnership with Wild Turkey gives Anderson Valley a world class, consistent source of barrelage, allowing our brewers to explore new frontiers in barrel-aged craft beer.

It pours black with a deep brown head. The is a definitive bourbon aroma that is present. There is a hint of bread malts. There is a toffee taste mixed with bourbon flavoring and espresso. It has a rich texture with an alcohol kick on the palate.

Nice Wild turkey characteristics - vanilla and big spice on top of the traditional stout characteristics. A little thin, as I always thought it a bit odd to barrel age such a low ABV beer. Still well made and enjoyable.

On tap @ Taphouse. This is a really deep and dark brown looking one with a nice really lacing deep beige head. Nice non-super-extreme nose. I get chocolate with wood, smoke, some cocoa powder and sweet snickers nuts. It has some slightly dryish woody flavors. Feels gliding oily in the mouth and it has a best described creamy and growing in the mouth carbonation level. Lots and lots of vanilla! Chocolate with a dark roasted profile. Traces of snickers nuts in the taste also. Slightly sweet. Ends with a dry cocoa finish with hints of alcohol and Bourbon. Lots of flavor in deed. Enjoyed this one. 01.05.2014

Location: 22 oz bottle from Oak Tree, 7/11/14

Aroma: The aroma is bourbon and oak, some roast malts, chocolate,
Appearance: It pours a black-brown color with a small brown head, and streaky lace
Flavor: The taste is sweet and bourbony, heavy malty, with a long sweet/boozy finish
Palate: The body is lighter than expected, clean, average carbonation, with heat on the finish
Overall Impression: Solid stuff, the bourbon really seems to be the star. It is lighter on the mouth than a typical example of this style, but it isn’t watery at all.

Type: 22-oz. bottle Glass: Lagunitas mason jar From: Armada Wine & Beer Merchant in Santa Barbara, Calif. Price: $10.99 Purchased: July 4, 2014 Consumed: July 9, 2014 Misc.: N/A Poured a pitch black color with 2-to-3 fingers of frothy tan head that settled nicely. Healthy amount of uneven foamy lacing along the sides. Good retention on the top all the way down. Smelled a quick whiff of chocolate before being dominated by bourbon liquor. Had a bad experience the last time I had Wild Turkey and can vaguely remember it, but the label reads, “Malt beverage aged in Wild Turkey Bourbon barrels” and I agree. Surprisingly, that heavy liquor whiff gives way to dark chocolate, crayon, sharp coffee beans, toffee, caramel and faint smoky wood. Tasted better than the smell. Got chocolate, caramel, toffee, dark chocolate, dark cocoa nibs, liquor - bourbon and Wild Turkey, but way less pronounced than the nose -fudge, crayon and light oaky wood. Full body. Creamy-to-oily texture. Average carbonation. Long, boozy finish. Worsened as it went down. An above average stout, but not great. The attempt was great but it wasn’t quite as balanced as it should have been.

Pours a jet black color with a short lived dark tan head. The aroma was a nice sweet milk chocolate with notes of coffee, roasted barley, wood chips. The flavor was rather light chocolate with coffee note to it. It had a medium body the kinda killed the the flavor but the finish was smooth. Overall it was okay.
