Complexity. Aged for three months in Wild Turkey Bourbon barrels, this luxurious stout has a deep ebony hue and a beautiful mahogany head. The woody, vanilla-like notes imparted by the barrels mingle with aromas of fresh baked bread, toffee, and espresso and envelop the rich chocolate and roasted barley flavors with a fine bourbon character. Our exclusive partnership with Wild Turkey gives Anderson Valley a world class, consistent source of barrelage, allowing our brewers to explore new frontiers in barrel-aged craft beer.

I was shocked when I tasted this brew! My favorite has always been Whatney’s Cream Stout and I now settle for Guiness Stout which really doesn’t come close in any sense. As I opine Whatney’s to be my very favorite and have never tasted anything close, I now have a brew that I can at least look for on occasion and know that I am getting a true, honest to gosh, down right good tasting brew. Lets suffice it to say that AVWTBS is outstanding. I only hope they will keep on brewing it and not cut its life short like DIagio did to Whatney’s. Cant believe those guys lost the recipe....

Pours almost black from bomber in Portland. Quickly dissipating tan head...minimal lacing. Nose is bourbon, caramel, coffee, chocolate....sort of like a, well, stout. taste is also sweet with moderate edge from the bourbon. Not overwhelming which is probably why I like it...yummy.

Dark brown, near black.....no, go ahead and call it black! Rocky light brown head. Treacle, charcoal, chocolate, coffee and a hint of bourbon. The barrel and the bourbon are more evident in the taste as it warms, sticky sweetness, a good, but not top notch stout,

Very nice stout from a bomber bottle purchased at Wegmans in Collegeville. The beer pours a black color with a very dark reddish hue. At first, there is a decent, brown head sitting atop the beer. But it doesn’t last very long. It dwindles quickly down to just a ring around the inside of the glass. There isn’t any lacing either. Those is quite strong, dominated with sweet milk chocolate, a touch of alcohol and some vanilla. The body is definitely on the sweet side, with notes of creamy chocolate, vanilla, whiskey, light flowery hops, roasted barley, toasted bread, light coffee and some caramel. The finish is a little boozy, but features some really nice chocolate, coffee and sweet flavors. Even though this beer is "only" 6.9%, it seems to play catch up with the brain about halfway through. Delicious stout!
