COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Complexity. Aged for three months in Wild Turkey Bourbon barrels, this luxurious stout has a deep ebony hue and a beautiful mahogany head. The woody, vanilla-like notes imparted by the barrels mingle with aromas of fresh baked bread, toffee, and espresso and envelop the rich chocolate and roasted barley flavors with a fine bourbon character. Our exclusive partnership with Wild Turkey gives Anderson Valley a world class, consistent source of barrelage, allowing our brewers to explore new frontiers in barrel-aged craft beer.

Tap. This was surprisingly thin and watery. I’m used to my bourbon stouts being big and heavy. The flavor was good- lots of chocolate with a good bourbon flavor and it went down smoothly but I would prefer some more body.

Type: 22-oz. bottle Glass: Lagunitas mason jar From: Armada Wine & Beer Merchant in Santa Barbara, Calif. Price: $10.99 Purchased: July 4, 2014 Consumed: July 9, 2014 Misc.: N/A Poured a pitch black color with 2-to-3 fingers of frothy tan head that settled nicely. Healthy amount of uneven foamy lacing along the sides. Good retention on the top all the way down. Smelled a quick whiff of chocolate before being dominated by bourbon liquor. Had a bad experience the last time I had Wild Turkey and can vaguely remember it, but the label reads, “Malt beverage aged in Wild Turkey Bourbon barrels” and I agree. Surprisingly, that heavy liquor whiff gives way to dark chocolate, crayon, sharp coffee beans, toffee, caramel and faint smoky wood. Tasted better than the smell. Got chocolate, caramel, toffee, dark chocolate, dark cocoa nibs, liquor - bourbon and Wild Turkey, but way less pronounced than the nose -fudge, crayon and light oaky wood. Full body. Creamy-to-oily texture. Average carbonation. Long, boozy finish. Worsened as it went down. An above average stout, but not great. The attempt was great but it wasn’t quite as balanced as it should have been.

Pours a jet black color with a short lived dark tan head. The aroma was a nice sweet milk chocolate with notes of coffee, roasted barley, wood chips. The flavor was rather light chocolate with coffee note to it. It had a medium body the kinda killed the the flavor but the finish was smooth. Overall it was okay.

Tap @Taphouse, Cph. Pours deep opaque black with a small, creamy, beige head. Aroma has licorice, mild chocolate, some vanilla. Lowish carbonation, fine dry and fairly light mouthfeel. Flavour has good licorice, light oak, soft chocolate, mild roasted. Quite mellow but in a good way.

Hey, this is a little more civilized than an imperial stout fer sure. LAcks any volatile aromas. At first it is very laid back. Easy going. Little co2. does have some of that whisky thing going on, but not in yer face, good touch, well done. Some burning going down the troat and a warming sensation in the gullet. Yes, pleasantly surprized

Keg at CASC. It pours near black with a small tan head. The nose is soft, roasty, toast, coconut, vanilla, bounty bar and rocky road. The taste is smooth, chocolate, wood, coffee, mild acidity, vanilla, bourbon and earth with a dry finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Smooth and easy going. Solid.
