COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Complexity. Aged for three months in Wild Turkey Bourbon barrels, this luxurious stout has a deep ebony hue and a beautiful mahogany head. The woody, vanilla-like notes imparted by the barrels mingle with aromas of fresh baked bread, toffee, and espresso and envelop the rich chocolate and roasted barley flavors with a fine bourbon character. Our exclusive partnership with Wild Turkey gives Anderson Valley a world class, consistent source of barrelage, allowing our brewers to explore new frontiers in barrel-aged craft beer.

Found this on tap at the Yard House in Chino Hills. Barney Flats aged in a bourbon barrel! I’ve tried many stouts that have been aged in bourbon barrels some are good and some are so over powered by bourbon and oak that they taste like soy sauce. The good news is Anderson Valley nailed this one. If you Enjoyed the Barney Flats Oatmeal Stout like I did this is gonna rock your world. The Appearance is Black l and it had a 1" head that stuck around for little while leaving a nice little lacing on the glass. The aroma is intoxicating in itself, bourbon ,oak, cocoa, and coffee up front and sharing the stage nothing really overpowering the other. The mouth feel is smooth and creamy as expected from an oatmeal stout. It taste like it smells except the malts and hops come forward and add tho the blend. The mild after taste is just like it smells mild bourbon and oak burn with chocolate. My new Favorite. Now if I can just find it in Bottles around here.

Beautiful dark brown color with nice tall and creamy tan head, the first aroma I felt was the bourbon, then came the coffee and caramel aromas. Creamy texture. In mouth, you immediately feel the chocolate and the roast. A lingering bourbon flavor comes in after a while. Sweet with some bitter notes of dark chocolate. Well-balanced and very drinkable. This was a very pleasant beer.

Bottle. Pours perfectly dark, a beautiful head of foam with reddish, kind of caffe latte notes. Very good appearance. Aroma is not intense but very enjoyable and fresh with coffee and toffee notes. Extremely well-balanced and smooth taste build of fresh coffee, creamy vanilla, brown sugar and indeed, a bourbon feeling! A sweet tone is well countered with a bittereness. Leaves a very pleasant sweet aftertaste, sort of coffee-style. This beer is extremely drinkable, I actually could start my day with a glass of this one!

Thanks to Mike for saving me a taste! Pours very dark brown/black with a rich, tan head that falls to a ring. The smell is bourbon, vanilla, roasted malt, molasses. The taste is coffee, brown sugar, bourbon, molasses ending dry. The body is medium with fine carbonation.
