4.8 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Found this on tap at the Yard House in Chino Hills. Barney Flats aged in a bourbon barrel! Iíve tried many stouts that have been aged in bourbon barrels some are good and some are so over powered by bourbon and oak that they taste like soy sauce. The good news is Anderson Valley nailed this one. If you Enjoyed the Barney Flats Oatmeal Stout like I did this is gonna rock your world. The Appearance is Black l and it had a 1" head that stuck around for little while leaving a nice little lacing on the glass. The aroma is intoxicating in itself, bourbon ,oak, cocoa, and coffee up front and sharing the stage nothing really overpowering the other. The mouth feel is smooth and creamy as expected from an oatmeal stout. It taste like it smells except the malts and hops come forward and add tho the blend. The mild after taste is just like it smells mild bourbon and oak burn with chocolate. My new Favorite. Now if I can just find it in Bottles around here.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bomber shared. Pours a dark brown with a coffee colored head. Much lacing on the glass. The aroma is complex in as such you get the bourbon, roasted malts, hints of vanilla and some woodiness. The flavor and mouth feel are incredible. You almost expect to start chewing on this and it quietly disappears. A very smooth bourbon flavor with vanilla notes, roasted malts. Maybe some toffee or something like that. Overall a very solid beer that is very well made.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a very dark brown with a perfectly formed taupe head. Mildly smoky coffee nose. Pretty usual stout aromas. Mildly creamy and lightly scrubby texture. A soft bourbon flavor and coffee, with a short-lived, sweet vanilla that gives way to light sourwood.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Poured black with aromas of bourbon and coffee. Taste follows nose but with a subtle sweetness. Flavor of bourbon and coffee really comes through but not overpowering. Reminds me of a mellowed out version of bourbon county stout. Really good barrel aged stout. Will drink again.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
This is definitely a unique stout. Aromas of chocolate and sweet cream. Sweet flavors come through first, milk chocolate, caramelized sugar, and toffee. Then breads, roasted nuts, raisins, brown sugar and whiskey. Vanilla aftertaste. Smooth, though lighter bodied than Iíd like.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tap. Dark pour with thick tan head. Smells of chocolate, dark malts and slight bourbon. Taste is a little light on the bourbon. Also seems a little thin for a stout

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Poured a very dark brown, almost black, but not quite...with a moderate cardboard head. Aroma is seductive - bourbon, malts, coffee. The taste is likewise full and complex - roasted barley, coffee, just the right hint of bourbon, and a surprisingly refreshing, cola-esque finish. This is very, very good.
