Complexity. Aged for three months in Wild Turkey Bourbon barrels, this luxurious stout has a deep ebony hue and a beautiful mahogany head. The woody, vanilla-like notes imparted by the barrels mingle with aromas of fresh baked bread, toffee, and espresso and envelop the rich chocolate and roasted barley flavors with a fine bourbon character. Our exclusive partnership with Wild Turkey gives Anderson Valley a world class, consistent source of barrelage, allowing our brewers to explore new frontiers in barrel-aged craft beer.

Found this on tap at the Yard House in Chino Hills. Barney Flats aged in a bourbon barrel! Iíve tried many stouts that have been aged in bourbon barrels some are good and some are so over powered by bourbon and oak that they taste like soy sauce. The good news is Anderson Valley nailed this one. If you Enjoyed the Barney Flats Oatmeal Stout like I did this is gonna rock your world. The Appearance is Black l and it had a 1" head that stuck around for little while leaving a nice little lacing on the glass. The aroma is intoxicating in itself, bourbon ,oak, cocoa, and coffee up front and sharing the stage nothing really overpowering the other. The mouth feel is smooth and creamy as expected from an oatmeal stout. It taste like it smells except the malts and hops come forward and add tho the blend. The mild after taste is just like it smells mild bourbon and oak burn with chocolate. My new Favorite. Now if I can just find it in Bottles around here.

On tap at the Yard House. You can smell the bourbon in the aroma along with chocolate. Great roasted black malt taste with a light boozy kick from the Wild Turkey barrel. The alcohol is a little low for this, but the body is lighter so itís kind of light overall. Great wood aged stout.

500 ml or so bottle at home. Pours dark brown with a decent light beige head. Aroma is nice and subtle vanilla, bourbon and some oak, milk chocolate as well... Light body, nice vanilla flavours, cold ligt coffee, aftertaste of mocca (?). Allbeit very watery though. The body & taste are inferior to the aroma...

Bottle: clear, dense, medium head but poor lace. Lifted cocoa and vanilla. Medium intensity. Dry, not sour and low bitterness. The palate is reasonably fresh and balanced but lacks the weight and flavor I expected from a barrel ages stout.

MY 500th RATING! 22 oz. bomber. Pitch black with a tan head that laces the glass nicely and hangs around for a bit. Aroma is bourbon (duh) and caramel, maybe vanilla. Unlike a lot of bourbon beers, this one isnít overly sweet, and it goes down very smoothly. Nicely done.

Excellent Stout. Very wine aroma and taste. Feels prunes and oak tones. Partly acidity adds fullness of taste. Very Well.

I have a soft spot for bourbon barrel beers. This is a nice one. Very good flavor, not over the top and heavy so you can sit down and really enjoy it without too much buzz. Nice vanilla notes, touch of bourbon. Good beer.

Sweet roasted aromas. Very dark with a thin head. The flavor starts off roasted then the woody barrel carries it a smooth bourbon finish. The sweetness is kept in control and it finishes perfectly.
