Complexity. Aged for three months in Wild Turkey Bourbon barrels, this luxurious stout has a deep ebony hue and a beautiful mahogany head. The woody, vanilla-like notes imparted by the barrels mingle with aromas of fresh baked bread, toffee, and espresso and envelop the rich chocolate and roasted barley flavors with a fine bourbon character. Our exclusive partnership with Wild Turkey gives Anderson Valley a world class, consistent source of barrelage, allowing our brewers to explore new frontiers in barrel-aged craft beer.

On tap. Half finger head with nice lacing. Smells amazingly like butterscotch! Holy cow. Spot on butterscotch. Thick body, light licorice, buttery, little bourbon, and creamy.

I found this beer dull. The aroma is muted roasted grains. The appearance is very dark with ample head, but soft carbonation overall. The taste is mostly a mild coffee flavor with some vanilla tones. The barrel aging really muted the strength of the roasted grains and the hop bitterness too much.

on tap @ Party Town / Florence KY --- Opaque black/brown color, brown head, streamers of lace. Aroma of malt, vanilla, and light bourbon. Taste is toasted malt with coffee and light bourbon that blooms through a barely carbonated swallow to a finish that doesn’t need additional bittering. Big taste, complex, easy to drink.

From bomber to tulip. Did not get much barrel off of this. Dark, dark brown with a tan head. Vanilla was present on the aroma.

old notes, assumed from a tapped pint via beer revo. "soft smooth nose, melting caramel, sweetish, vanilla, something. Similar taste, mild bitterness, light roast, weakest of smoke"

Das Bier ist sehr dunkelbraun/schwarz und hat eine fingerbreite braune Schaumkrone. Geruch stark röstmalzig, Schokode, Kaffee, Bourbon. Geschmack sehr röstmalzig, schokoladig, Vanille, Bourbon, leicht alkoholisch, sehr gut!

Piwo nalewa się z gęstą, drobną, brązową pianą. Kolor brunatny, nieprzejrzyste. Bardzo wyraźny aromat beczki po whisky. Trochę drewna i delikatna wanilia. Lekkie nuty kwaskowe. W smaku znów nuty beczki, bardzo wyraźne. Nuty ciemnych słodów w drugiej nucie. Piwo nie jest ciężkie w odczuciu. Nie jest wodniste, ale nie pełne. Idealne jak na stout. Alkohol dobrze zamaskowany, ale lekko grzeje w ustach. Piwo wytrawne, słodycz znikoma. Dużo nut dębowych i waniliowych.

640mL bottle from Beer Cartel. Looks fantastic - solid inch of rocky tan head atop a almost black opaque body. Aroma muted at first, but as it warms it reveals itself in all its splendour - rich chocolate & mocha, coffee & vanilla bean, charred/toasted wood & bread, touch of licorice, twangy sour-mashy Bourbon notes, vinous dark fruit undertones. Full bodied, not overly rich as the aroma might suggests, seems reasonably well attenuated for a stout (?), a touch of creaminess, lingering palate. Bourbon & oak comes through with a vengence on the body - yeehaaw! Vanilla, butter, cream, lactic sour mashy bourbon-y notes, toasted nuts, apricot seed, wood-fire charcoal, burnt toast, with a lovely sweet dark chocolate maltiness to round things up. Moderately high bitterness to finish, well balanced, lingering dried/vinous fruit character. Tremendous, doesn’t beat around the bush with the barrel character - it’s all there and takes you for one hell of a journey!

Oak. Pure oak beer. Beautiful black with espresso-like head. Aroma of oak and vanilla. Taste is a wonderful blend of oak, vanilla, bourbon, coffee and chocolate. Booze very hidden. Wonderful.

On Tap, the name of the bar escapes me now. Deep black brown pour with a full head of tan tiny bubbles. The nose is a broad array of vanilla, roasted malt, bourbon, caramel and dark chocolate. Taste is initially just a little sweet, but then a nice rush of dark chocolate roasted malt with Bourbon tones quite evident as well. Body is velvet. Fantastic stout.
