4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 AndyW68 (391) - Louisville, Kentucky, USA - FEB 6, 2013Black pour. Tan creamy head. Aroma of vanilla, chocolate, roasted malt and a little sweet bourbon. Silky/creamy with a taste very close to the aroma. Finishes creamy and sweet. The bourbon is there, but not overwhelming. I usually like a little stronger bourbon flavor in this style, but this is a nice balance.

From tap. Pours black with medium tan head. Very mild aromas of bread, wood, toffee. Tastes of toffee, oak, and wood. Nothing really stands out for me with this beer. I was expecting a little more.

Bottle. A dark brown color with a foamy brown head. A strong bourbon aroma with chocolate malty offset. A smooth vanilla and chocolate aroma with roasted malts and a bourbon finish. The bourbon did not seem well balanced.

Brown in color, hazy with a thin tan head. Super bourbon flavor and aroma. This was a super barrel aged beer. Light tasting not a huge high alcohol amount very interesting and I was impressed.

Dark brown pour with small tan head. Aroma of coffee, chocolate and bourbon. Taste of roasted coffee, vanilla and bourbon. Thin mouthfeel and all flavors are very faint, could be so much better if the flavors stood out more.

On tap at Petrol Station. Pours a dark brown with beige head leaving spotty lacing. The aroma is coffee roast and vanilla. Thin mouthfeel with a chocolate roast and vanilla with sweet finish. Hides alcohol well, a very impressive stout.

22 FL. OZ. bottle purchased from Leary’s for $9.55 Saturday night. To undersized snifter, it pours a murky dark brown with a thin, mocha-tan head, one pinky nail in length. Tastes and smells overwhelmingly of vanilla, bourbon oak, molasses, rust, and milk chocolate. Raspberries, hops, and a growing heat by swallow. Enjoyable for the most part.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20 BigBeer45 (1116) - Michigan, USA - MAY 11, 2013
22 oz. Bottle,
this stout had a black-brown pour and gave a one to two finger tan colored head, it left some spots and fingers of lacing on the glass, the bottom of the bottle had a ring of dark sediment,
this stout had aromas of bourbon liquor, chocolate, roasted malt, caramel, and faint vanilla,
there were flavors of bourbon with some chocolate and faint roasted malt, there was vanilla and wood,
the finish had little to no bitterness with malt and bourbon liquor sweetness trailing, I think a bit of roasted malt bitterness would help the finish,
the mouth feel was a little thin, and it had average carbonation,
this stout had a nice presentation but it had a light nose that consisted mostly of bourbon, and the flavor was pretty much the same,
this beer was sort of a disappointment, more malt (stout) characteristics would help this beer, it had a nice bourbon statement but the beer was lacking, oh well.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20 kevinator (317) - The Colony, Texas, USA - MAY 11, 2013
This one disappointed a bit. Bourbon and malt aroma. Some wood as well. Poured very dark but with a good sized head. I didn’t care for the palate as it was too carbonated and didn’t have a velvety smoothness I would have wanted. I wonder if time would have mellowed this out a bit. The flavor simply needed more power and more alcohol. It was like the roasted malts and wood and whiskey had a governor on them. Not bad, just expecting more.
