COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Complexity. Aged for three months in Wild Turkey Bourbon barrels, this luxurious stout has a deep ebony hue and a beautiful mahogany head. The woody, vanilla-like notes imparted by the barrels mingle with aromas of fresh baked bread, toffee, and espresso and envelop the rich chocolate and roasted barley flavors with a fine bourbon character. Our exclusive partnership with Wild Turkey gives Anderson Valley a world class, consistent source of barrelage, allowing our brewers to explore new frontiers in barrel-aged craft beer.

Strong, smoky aroma has a robust overtone of bourbon, plus subtle notes of chocolate, licorice, toffee and caramel. Pours a deep, rich coffee sable with a rather thick and persistent light tan head. Satisfying flavor has a roast malt core and a strong bourbon note, plus nutty, caramel, chocolate, earthy and licorice notes of varying strength. It seems to get better with each sip! Smooth texture has hearty body, though fizz seems on the weak side. So what - this is a great beer, one I hope they will brew again!

Bottle. Black color with a small head. Aromas molasses, smoke, little raisin. Body is nice and light which makes this a very enjoyable experience overall. Maybe one of the better well balanced barrel aged beers I’ve had in a while.

Tap at WOB, Wild Turkey version. Pours black with a thin off white head. Big whiskey barrel aroma with touches of roasted grain. Taste is whiskey, roasted grain, caramel, vanilla and cola. Very good blend. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

I don't really care for the aroma but the taste is actually quite a extraordinary beer. It's got a tart like quality with a nice malty taste. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

The aroma definitely has bourbon with wood, toasted malt, earth, and chocolate. The taste is like the aroma. The appearance is dark brown with a medium head. The palate is average. Overall it’s great it just has a bit of strangeness in the aroma.

Bottle: The aroma consists of chocolate, vanilla, and coconut. It pours a dark brown with no transparency with and small beige head. The flavor starts with moderate chocolate, a touch of molasses, and faint fruit. The finish has light roasted malt, coffee, bourbon, and vanilla. It’s medium bodied with mild carbonation. Overall, a solid Imperial Stout with a mild barrel character.

Bomber. I’m surprised this isn’t imperial strength. Pours inky black with a medium tan head that falls after a minute or two. Aroma is strong in wood; bourbon, artisan caramel, vanilla, cinnamon are also apparent--smells awesome, fo sho’. Taste is also strong in all that was in the nose; it’s woody, lightly sweet with very little bitterness. Texture is a tad watery, carbonation is just right for style, body not as full as I wish. The minor palate quibble doesn’t detract too much from this super tasty beer. Really good. Addendum, about a half hour later: I gotta dock it for the thin body. More than a quibble, I guess. Still good stuff.

From tap. Pours black with medium tan head. Very mild aromas of bread, wood, toffee. Tastes of toffee, oak, and wood. Nothing really stands out for me with this beer. I was expecting a little more.

Bottle. A dark brown color with a foamy brown head. A strong bourbon aroma with chocolate malty offset. A smooth vanilla and chocolate aroma with roasted malts and a bourbon finish. The bourbon did not seem well balanced.

Brown in color, hazy with a thin tan head. Super bourbon flavor and aroma. This was a super barrel aged beer. Light tasting not a huge high alcohol amount very interesting and I was impressed.
