Complexity. Aged for three months in Wild Turkey Bourbon barrels, this luxurious stout has a deep ebony hue and a beautiful mahogany head. The woody, vanilla-like notes imparted by the barrels mingle with aromas of fresh baked bread, toffee, and espresso and envelop the rich chocolate and roasted barley flavors with a fine bourbon character. Our exclusive partnership with Wild Turkey gives Anderson Valley a world class, consistent source of barrelage, allowing our brewers to explore new frontiers in barrel-aged craft beer.

Poured into tulip from 22oz bottle. Aroma was dark fruits, raisins and dates, a little plum. Taste was roasted malts, earthy, dark fruits and a little chocolate. The Wild Turkey came on in the finish and was the aftertaste. Most of these barrel beers I taste seem to have a bit of the whiskey flavor but the finish of this one was pure whiskey. I loved this one, and I think it was my favorite bourbon beer yet.

Bottle @ home. Dark brown pour, thin head. Aroma is bourbon chocolate, light smoke and cherry fruit. Light body for a bourbon stout. Fruit and whiskey on the front. Coffee and light toasted malt. Pleasant and not overly heavy.

22 oz. bottle. Pours a deep brown color with a thin, brief tan head. Aroma is of vanilla and chocolate with a touch of bourbon in the background. Taste is a little sweet like chocolate. A little lighter in body than I thought, but very smooth. The finish is sweet chocolate and a some smokiness comes through.

Bottle. Pours black with huge tan head. Aroma is bourbon, vanilla, and chocolate. Medium body and carbonation. Sweet with mild flavors of chocolate, vanilla, and oak. Surprisingly, not picking up much bourbon in this one. Good stout overall.

Beautiful dark brown color with nice tall and creamy tan head, the first aroma I felt was the bourbon, then came the coffee and caramel aromas. Creamy texture. In mouth, you immediately feel the chocolate and the roast. A lingering bourbon flavor comes in after a while. Sweet with some bitter notes of dark chocolate. Well-balanced and very drinkable. This was a very pleasant beer.

draught@Erzbierschof - black beer under a solid creamy dark beige foam; aroma of nougat, vanilla and cherries; roasted with notes of black chocolate; sweet and medium-bodied, light grainy texture, lot of vanilla, residual sweetness and gentle bourbon notes in the finish

Bottle. Pours perfectly dark, a beautiful head of foam with reddish, kind of caffe latte notes. Very good appearance. Aroma is not intense but very enjoyable and fresh with coffee and toffee notes. Extremely well-balanced and smooth taste build of fresh coffee, creamy vanilla, brown sugar and indeed, a bourbon feeling! A sweet tone is well countered with a bittereness. Leaves a very pleasant sweet aftertaste, sort of coffee-style. This beer is extremely drinkable, I actually could start my day with a glass of this one!

Bottle sample at a tasting at Stas’s place. Thanks Tom L. black with tan head. Chocolate milk sweetness with some caramel and sugar in the nose, sweet, creamy and a little chocolatey taste. Soft, almost no carbonation, full-bodied. Good.

Thanks to Mike for saving me a taste! Pours very dark brown/black with a rich, tan head that falls to a ring. The smell is bourbon, vanilla, roasted malt, molasses. The taste is coffee, brown sugar, bourbon, molasses ending dry. The body is medium with fine carbonation.

Pours a dark brown with a light tan head. Malty aroma with a bit of vanilla. String vanilla and malt flavor with smoky notes and a bit of bourbon in the finish. Excellent stout.
