COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Complexity. Aged for three months in Wild Turkey Bourbon barrels, this luxurious stout has a deep ebony hue and a beautiful mahogany head. The woody, vanilla-like notes imparted by the barrels mingle with aromas of fresh baked bread, toffee, and espresso and envelop the rich chocolate and roasted barley flavors with a fine bourbon character. Our exclusive partnership with Wild Turkey gives Anderson Valley a world class, consistent source of barrelage, allowing our brewers to explore new frontiers in barrel-aged craft beer.

22oz bottle: pours a mostly opaque dark mahogany with a stringy-lacing off-white head. Has a sweet toasty dark caramel malty nose with some vanilla beans and oaky bourbon. Starts with decent fullness and light effervescence with some lightly sweet dark malts and some dark chocolate and bourbon complexity. Finishes drier and bittersweet. Could use a little more body and complexity, but is pretty well-balanced.

Black pour from draft at Clark street. Heavy whiskey aroma. Carmel and sweet taste, mild chocolate, coffee. Wild turkey dominant. I like it

Draft... Pours hazy and black with a small creamy taupe head. The aroma is a marriage of chocolate crème and that signature Wild Turkey fragrance of ripe apples. Medium to full-bodied with active carbonation. The flavors of scorched malts, caramel and 85% dark chocolate bitter-sweetness transform into a roasty, fudgy, toffee and caramel finish.

Almost black in color, this beer has a medium brown head. The nose is soft, but strong and celebrating of the woody goodness of Wild Turkey barrels. The aroma is very strong up front, but mellows out after either 1) being exposed for more than a few minutes or 2) well, hell… maybe your nose just gets used to its softness. The soft, silky mouthfeel is what really stands out with this beer, more so than the Bourbon flavor. There’s not much to the roasted character of this beer, likely thanks to its aging, and although the Bourbon flavor is soft and easy, there’s no harsh roasted malts (or alcohol - thanks to the style) to hide it. Soft, easy, gentle… clean and clearly WIld Turkey, but without any harshness from roasted malts or alcohol. What a nice treat that’s not in your face… no need to show off too much, guys.

Butelka 0.65L. Brunatne, prawie czarne, bujna beżowa piana, zbita, bujna, z kożuchem, ładny lacing. Aromat: przede wszystkim beczka whisky, bourbon, wiśnia, czekolada,. Złożonym, bogaty, świetny, czuć grzyby, runo leśne, huba w dobrym znaczeniu. Smak: whisky, praliny, czuć alkohol ale świetnie skomponowany, wiśnie w whisky w czekoladzie, długi posmak whisky, torfowy. Smak bardzo złożony, świetnie ewoluuje pomiędzy początkiem a końcem każdego łyku. Goryczka niska, alkoholowa. Dość wytrawne, niskowysycone. Po wzięciu łyka w aromacie pojawia się alkohol, pachnie jak whisky.

Aroma is a rich maltiness with smoky roastiness and whiskey tone. Some sweet cherry derived from the barrel aging. The rich aromas hinted towards a taste that somehow didnt come through. The roasty malts seem watered down and the hopiness isnt entirely special. The body is a dark copper with a head that retains reasonably.

One of the best barrel aged stouts I’ve tried. Nice deep woody textures and smells, velvety smooth and rich. Almost black body, small beige head, lots of whiskey essence without taking over.

Very dark brown, the aroma is a bit fruity, sweet and bourbon character. A bit assertive, sweet and heavy on both booze and barrel.

[Bottle] Jet black pour with a small amount of light brown head. Nose is of whiskey and lesser amounts of mocha and brown sugar. Vanilla, caramel malts, charred wood, lots of hot alcohol and anise round out the flavor. Average palate. Tried this at a tasting along side many other bourbon barrel stouts. This one seemed to have more of a raw bourbon flavor that didn’t blend as well with the rest of the beer as I would have liked. I was surprised that it actually had the least alcohol out of the ones we tried. Tasting notes from 2/2014.
