Complexity. Aged for three months in Wild Turkey Bourbon barrels, this luxurious stout has a deep ebony hue and a beautiful mahogany head. The woody, vanilla-like notes imparted by the barrels mingle with aromas of fresh baked bread, toffee, and espresso and envelop the rich chocolate and roasted barley flavors with a fine bourbon character. Our exclusive partnership with Wild Turkey gives Anderson Valley a world class, consistent source of barrelage, allowing our brewers to explore new frontiers in barrel-aged craft beer.

65cl bottle shared. Pours black with a low creamy beige head. Aroma is milky sweet, light roastiness, coffee, light whisky notes. Taste is similar, sweet and roastiness, very good coffee aftertaste, lighter mouthfeel than expected. Some whisky again in the finish, very light bitterness.

650 ml bottle from Premier Wine and Spirits. Pours a very dark brown with a decent-sized beige head. Aroma is big vanilla and bourbon with more subtle roasty malt. Flavour is also dominated by the barrel with notes of wood, vanilla and bourbon, there’s some underlying coffee and chocolate notes but the stout can’t hold up to the barrel. A little thinner than I’d like. Nice, but a bigger base beer might be better.

Keg at Beergeek. Pours Black with a Tan head. Aroma of roast malt and dripping with Bourbon oak vanilla. A nice base stout but the hot barrel ageing makes my brain wish this was imperial. A massive boozy stout is a good counterbalance to overzealous whisky barrel ageing. A more reasonable alcohol content. falls down a bit. Really nice anyway.

Pitch black pour, scant tan head. Nose is soft dark malt with a hint of bourbon; subtle but noticeable. Bittersweet. Middle is sweet cherries, mild oats, woody. Finish is smooth dark malt. Nice beer.

Tap at Roundhouse for Steph's birthday. Pitch place pour thin dense foamy head. Aroma is woody boozy aroma with roasted flavor. Taste is not as big as you'd think. Chocolate mainly and some bitterness. Creamy palate. Not bad but not too special.
