COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Complexity. Aged for three months in Wild Turkey Bourbon barrels, this luxurious stout has a deep ebony hue and a beautiful mahogany head. The woody, vanilla-like notes imparted by the barrels mingle with aromas of fresh baked bread, toffee, and espresso and envelop the rich chocolate and roasted barley flavors with a fine bourbon character. Our exclusive partnership with Wild Turkey gives Anderson Valley a world class, consistent source of barrelage, allowing our brewers to explore new frontiers in barrel-aged craft beer.

Serving: Draft at Fire Works Leesburg. It pours a dark brown color with a thick tan head. The nose is potent and all Wild Turkey. The flavor reminds me of a Wild Turkey and Vanilla Coke with a bit of oak. Full bodied with a good bit of carbonation to lighten things up. A little chocolate emerges as the brew warms. Certainly enjoyable if you are a Wild Turkey fan, but if not, you will probably hate this one.

Butelka 0.65L. Brunatne, prawie czarne, bujna beżowa piana, zbita, bujna, z kożuchem, ładny lacing. Aromat: przede wszystkim beczka whisky, bourbon, wiśnia, czekolada,. Złożonym, bogaty, świetny, czuć grzyby, runo leśne, huba w dobrym znaczeniu. Smak: whisky, praliny, czuć alkohol ale świetnie skomponowany, wiśnie w whisky w czekoladzie, długi posmak whisky, torfowy. Smak bardzo złożony, świetnie ewoluuje pomiędzy początkiem a końcem każdego łyku. Goryczka niska, alkoholowa. Dość wytrawne, niskowysycone. Po wzięciu łyka w aromacie pojawia się alkohol, pachnie jak whisky.

Aroma is a rich maltiness with smoky roastiness and whiskey tone. Some sweet cherry derived from the barrel aging. The rich aromas hinted towards a taste that somehow didnt come through. The roasty malts seem watered down and the hopiness isnt entirely special. The body is a dark copper with a head that retains reasonably.

One of the best barrel aged stouts I’ve tried. Nice deep woody textures and smells, velvety smooth and rich. Almost black body, small beige head, lots of whiskey essence without taking over.

Very dark brown, the aroma is a bit fruity, sweet and bourbon character. A bit assertive, sweet and heavy on both booze and barrel.

[Bottle] Jet black pour with a small amount of light brown head. Nose is of whiskey and lesser amounts of mocha and brown sugar. Vanilla, caramel malts, charred wood, lots of hot alcohol and anise round out the flavor. Average palate. Tried this at a tasting along side many other bourbon barrel stouts. This one seemed to have more of a raw bourbon flavor that didn’t blend as well with the rest of the beer as I would have liked. I was surprised that it actually had the least alcohol out of the ones we tried. Tasting notes from 2/2014.

22 oz bomber into a snifter. Pours black with a small khaki head that leaves a fair amount of lacing. Aroma of roasted coffee, chocolate, vanilla, bourbon and oak. Taste is bourbon, oak, dark chocolate, and roasted coffee up front with vanilla, plum and black licorice behind it. Bourbon comes through very well, but doesn’t overwhelm or burn. Long finish of rich malts, bourbon, oak and vanilla. Full bodied, thick and creamy texture, average carbonation. An excellent bourbon barrel stout! Worth the money.

_angst_ (2366) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - APR 2, 2014
Bottle courtesy of RoNo. Pours reddish blackish brown with a small dark mocha head that quickly dissipates while leaving a small trace on the glass. Smell is malty with roasted malts, ripe banana, dark chocolate, oatmeal cookies, dried cherries, liquorice fudge, vanilla fudge, moist soil, charred wood and hints of bourbon. Taste is slightly sweet, slightly bitter, tiny sour and malty with roasted malts, dark chocolate, dark roast coffee, oatmeal cookies, burnt caramel, cherry pits, hay, charred wood, liquorice fudge, vanilla hard candy, charred wood, cherry pits and hints of bourbon. Mouthfeel is soft, round, tiny roasted tart and medium bodied. Finish is tiny sweet, bitter and malty with roasted malts, dark chocolate, dark roast coffee, vanilla hard candy, charred wood, cherry pits and bourbon. Quite good...
