COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Regular.
NOTE: The bottled version (at 4.6%) has a separate listing.
This Pale Ale takes its name from the castle built by King John in 1207 less than 1 mile from the brewery, and from where he rode out to Runnymeade to sign the Magna Carta. The beer itself is deep amber in colour with a blend of pale ale and crystal malt, the bitterness and fruity aroma are developed from a combination of hops.

Cask @ The Ploughe Inn, Longparish. Beautiful looking, clear, deep amber body with a small off-white head. Aroma has caramel, toast, malt and fruit. Flavor is smooth malt, caramel, toast, fruit and mild, pleasant bitterness. Medium body and decent aftertaste. Quite nice bitter that suits the cask treatment.

Cask at gomshall mill. Appearance is great. Clear dark red with a substantial thick head. Great lacing. Aroma was equally good with strong fruit and hops. Sadly the taste was poor. Expected big flavours but essentially got grassy choppy water. Easily drinkable but very dull.

Cask (backlog). Deep ambery brown colour with a small beige head. Aroma is mild toasted notes, some nuttiness, mild biscuits as well as some slight caramel malts along with a slight wooden, herbal and slightly resiny notes. Flavour is wooden, resiny, some sappy and mildly earthy and herbal notes along with a quite nice crisp maltiness to it. Easy to drink bitter.
