Cask, gravity NWAF, Manchester in company of Dad, Pauline and Baz 20.01.12 Like Benji this was beer of the festival for me absolutely stunning, tried alongside the Redwillow Smokeless which I must point out was another very good beer and similar in style to this, however the Angel was streets ahead. I only got to try this because my dad was having it, so I had to go and get one. Lovely chocolate aroma, but with great hoppiness. The chilli and chocolate combine majestically, wonderful warmth, tingles the tongue. Lovely looker with oily tendrils of liquid left hanging onto the edges. Marvellous, simply stunning, in fact I could run out of positive comments for this beer, which says something because I guess that I had this a couple of days after Benji (Friday for me) and it was still brilliant. On cask at the 2012 NWAF, Manchester. My beer of the festival. A black beer with a thick tan head. Aroma is nice and malty with chocolate, coffee, roasty malt and caramel. Similar flavours with well balanced chilli and burnt toast also. Very bitter and dry with lingering dark chocolate and chili. Moderate carbonation and an oily mouth-feel. Wow.
