UPDATED: MAR 19, 2008 Out of the brew tank at Angel City Brewing. Poured with a deep amber hue, very interesting molasses and candy fruit nose. The taste is rich with belgium yeasts and cloves with a nice spice touches. The ABV is very well concealed and balanced. All and all this is a very, very nice Belgian strong ale and one I will enjoy again and again. Very much worth your time~ Nice job on this one Mike Bowe!

Cloudy dark brown appearance, well spiced aroma. Rich, sweet malt flavor, full bodied. Clove and coriander spice, slightly minty. A surprising easy drinker at 8%.

nice dark brown color. Medium sweet taste wiht some spices in between. spicey. Nicely balanced.

A creamy, cream-colored head holds forever over a light-hazed, perfect copper colored body. Becomes milk-hazed late with the additional yeasts. Funky & sour apple and wood aroma with a sour cherry hit. Flavor, too, is sour and bitter with a lot of apple and a bit of gut-wrenching acidity... but I found it overall enjoyable.

on tap-pours a disappearing light tan head and copper color. Aroma is very mild medium malt-(caramel?). taste is medium/dark malt-molasses/licorice, dark fruit-cherry/raisin, rock candy, yeast, some background hops bite. Medium body.

#40 - Amerikaner Blind-Smagning 12-Jun-2009 hos Papsoe. Bottle. Cloudy red/amber - white head. Barries, fruity, pineapples, sharpness, sourness, high sourness, tart, fruity, wheaty, yeasty.

Sampled on Christmas Eve in Monrovia with Glenn, Katie and the rest of the family. Deep ruby brown color with an opaque center. Nice 1/2 inch head that gives off a fruity aroma of raisin, pear and plum. Flavor is sweet and malty with a nicely rounded candy sugar character, with nuances of coriander and tangy green apple. Finishes warm with a medium-sized body. Pretty easy to drink a bomber, but anything more is just too much sugar. Enjoyable.

Maybe my favorite of the AC beers. Rich and sweet, strong on the malt, and also on the coating mouthfeel. Lovely big bold beer. Very nice. Not much in terms of hops, but that’s not what I’m looking for in a Dubbel.
