Ty5592 (1007), Hatfield, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 12, 2008 Funky light funky aroma. Malty rich chewy flavors. Plum and medium dark fruit. Thick and sugary on the palate.
Snojerk321 (943), San Diego, California, USA Jun 23, 2008 22oz bottle from BevMo! Another very mediocre beer from Angel City. Poured a medium amber brown with a small beige head. Both flavor and nose resembled some kind of a farmhouse funk.....no bueno. Angeloregon (1829), Portland, Oregon, USA May 4, 2008 On tap at Newport Pizza and Ale House in Ocean Beach, San Diego, CA--Deep, glowing chestnut body with a small, silky tan head. Lots of lace. Metallic, funky, skunky that seems unintentionally infected. Not so impressive. bsierra (162), Vista, California, USA Mar 17, 2008 Updated: Mar 19, 2008Out of the brew tank at Angel City Brewing. Poured with a deep amber hue, very interesting molasses and candy fruit nose. The taste is rich with belgium yeasts and cloves with a nice spice touches. The ABV is very well concealed and balanced. All and all this is a very, very nice Belgian strong ale and one I will enjoy again and again. Very much worth your time~ Nice job on this one Mike Bowe! stefanje (540), (Santee) San Diego, California, USA Mar 9, 2008 Updated: Apr 6, 2008650 ml bottle from Bev4less in Santee. Pours a murky amber color with a small cream head that immediately dissipates. This brew fizzed audibly like a cola during pouring. The aroma is strong with Belgian yeasts, persimmons and candied plums. The flavor is close to the aroma with added light spices, brown sugar, and a small amount of caramel. The mouthfeel is full and the carbonation is light. Finishes sweet and dry with a bit of tartness and a high ABV warming kicking in. Overall: This is really a very subtle and complex concoction; not one of the greats, but very enjoyable. Recommended. bhensonb (2832), Woodland, California, USA Feb 24, 2008 Bomber from Hi-Time. Mild caramel aroma with hints of yeast spice and belgian candi. Blood orange tinged amber color with a white head that flattens and minimally laces. Medium body with creamy carbonation. Flavors are light stone fruit, caramel, clove, yeast, and something like hop? Finish is not dry, but not overly sweet either. Except for the caramel I’d say this is edging towards a tripel. Whichever, it is a drink that is undeniably belgian.
