COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Angel City IPA is made with English Pale Malt and is bittered and generously dry-hopped with Golding Hops. This beer is not for the faint of heart, but because it is so well balanced it will be enjoyed by many.

650ml bottle from Bev4less in Santee. Pours a pours a translucent copper-gold color with a big sudsy white head. The lasted a long while and left good lacing. The aroma was moderate in strength with plenty of pepper spice and a bit of sweet biscuit. The flavor was very hops forward (as an IPA should be). Besides biter hops, there is a fair amount of biscuit, sour grapefruit, and white pepper. The mouthfeel is full, malty and smooth. The finish is long with a lingering sour note. Overall: Not my favorite IPA, the sour flavor seemed out of place here. Not recommended.

Bomber from Hi-Time. Aroma is more ESB than IPA. Seems floral. Orange gold color with a fluffy, coarse white head. Medium body with very mild carbonation. The flavor is malt, floral/herb and arguably citrus peel. A little funk, perhaps. English malt. Golding hops. Spicy, soft, woody. Maybe this is an EPA? Between the malt and the hop it does seem well balanced. Though it could be an ESB on roids. Took a bit of getting used to, but it is well worth the effort. Adventures in the mouth. Turns out to be a good ale.

Bomber pours out hazy copper – orange with off white head. The aroma seems somewhat Belgian like with yeasty spice mixed with lime, sour green grapes and a hint of malt sweetness. The taste starts tart with lemon, lime and under ripe grapes followed by tart grapefruit rind. A faint malt sweetness wells up at one point but doesn’t do anything to stave off the citrusy bitterness. Maybe this bottle has just started to sour. If it is meant to taste like this then I really didn’t care for it too much.

22oz bottle-pours a light tan head and gold color with particles. Aroma is some hop, medium malt and a bit of off-putting apple cider. Taste is some hop, medium malt and a bit of off-putting apple cider, maybe a packaging/bottling issue. While still quite drinkable would like to try again. OK carbonation.

Bottle. Orange pour with gold tinge. Some citrus hops in the aroma, but some kinda spoiled / earthy english malt dominates the aroma. This same slightly nasty malt is in the flavor, along with a small amount of bittering hops.

I ordered this at the Yardhouse the other night and drank it before it really struck me as a great beer. I guess for that reason I’d give it a very drinkable nod, but I would not seek this one out if you want to be impressed. I remember some strong hop presence in both the flavour and nose, but a fairly watery body.

22oz bottle. Very weak IPA. Tastes more like a weak ale. Not impressed at all. Gives Los Angeles a bad name. Would try again if they were handing them out for free or if stuck at a bar where all they had on tap was bud-light.

Obviously made in the English style. Aroma is some earth, grass, and some lemon. Beer pours a opaqe amberish color. Flavor is more of the grass and lemon. Not overly bitter at all. Relatively drinkable, but really average. I will not drink this again.
