3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 FlacoAlto (3086) - Tucson, Arizona, USA - MAR 13, 2007
Sampled February 2007
Pours with a brilliantly clear, reddish copper color. It is topped by a frothy, initially two-finger thick, light tan colored head. The aroma has an interesting herbal, almost vegetal note to it. It is quite malty as well with notes of caramel, toasted biscuit notes, and chewy, almost malt extract type notes.
The beer is quite smooth up front with just a touch of malt sweetness. The finish dries out even more and has a toasted, almost roasted coffee like note to it. The beer has a solid bitterness to it that is noticeable throughout the brew. There is not a whole lot of hop flavor here; just a light herbal character is noticeable. The malt seems a bit old; notes of caramel, and toasted grain, but also a sort of aged malt character that is both dry melanoid rich. This tastes like a pale ale, though it has more malt character. This really seems a throw back to the days before the American craft brewing hop craze. Drinkable, and fairly decent, but even using English hops this could be greatly improved upon.
1.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 5/20 Pailhead (3326) - Plymouth, Michigan, USA - AUG 22, 2006
Bottle: Courtesy of Styles. aroma is not IPA-like at all. Peach, grain, hint of pineapple, and some stale smelling hops. Pours a transparent amber with a small white head. Flavors of sour orange, rotten fruit, and a somewhat flowery hop finish. Everything just seems off. One of the worst IPA’s I’ve ever had.
2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 realale420 (399) - west covina, California, USA - JUL 23, 2006
On tap pours golden/orange with nice head retention. Light floral hop aroma. Taste is dull with not much hop flavor and no malt backbone. A one of a kind beer to say the least.
2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 Headbanger (2072) - Aurora, Illinois, USA - JUL 6, 2006
2oz bomber-Aroma of citrus on a light amber body with a head that retains itself pretty well. Taste of citrus with hops on the backend with a grapefruit taste in the middle.
1.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 6/20 Odeed (1749) - Bakersfield, California, USA - MAY 27, 2006

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 5000 (3998) - Hardened Liver, Washington, USA - MAY 20, 2006
Bottle: Reddish amber, hazy, moderate to large light beige head, frothy, fairly nice lacing. Immature fruit on the nose. Slight rubarb in fact. Where the hell is the hop bitterness? Odd bitter fruit flavor... no pine, citrus, or floral notes thats usually associated with an IPA. This isn’t even a Pale Ale. Ale maybe... Biting finish, sour fruit in fact. Not sure if this is spoiled, but based on the other rates I think this is normal for them. Thats too bad... Thanks for the new label Jordan!
1.4 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 4/20 elnadeau (786) - Laguna Niguel, California, USA - MAY 6, 2006
Bottle, from Hi-Time Cellar. Orange-amber color, aroma is strange and not at all as expected for an IPA. I assume that this bottle has a production problem or infection, way too many off flavors.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Ughsmash (5631) - Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA - MAY 5, 2006
Bottled. Poured a clear medium amber with a tall cap of rocky, off-white head... lots of rising carbonation. Rather sticky/sweet aroma with caramel, light fruits, and English floral hoppage. Flavor had a solid caramel and sweet fruity base.. plenty of floral as well as faint citrusy bitterness around the edges. Medium-bodied. Smooth malts and decently-placed bitterness. Caramel and pale malts plus spicy floral bitters at the finish. Nice beer, but definitely not to style.
