COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
An authentic German styled unfiltered wheat beer. Vitzen is the phonetic spelling for the German "Weizen", which means wheat beer. "Hefe", pronounced Hay fa, means with yeast and refers to the cloudy appearance of the unfiltered beer. Angel City Vitzen uses the Weinstephan wheat beer yeast which gives the beer it’s spicy flavor. Michael points out that this beer illustrates how much yeast can influence the flavor and aroma of beer and anyone who has been to Germany can attest to it’s authenticity.

I had this one the same night as an Ayinger Brau Weisse, so my rating may be a little lower. Pours a cloudy yellow with a decent white head. Yeasty and wheaty in the aroma, with some banana. The taste is very wheaty, more than I expected. The banana and clove are there, but very mild and towards the end. A good hefe, but I’ll go with the Ayinger over this any time.

22 oz bomber. Pours to a hazy, deep golden color, with a thick, tall, white head, and a vibrant carbonation. The nose on this beer is inviting, with light aromas of clove, estery fruit and banana. The palate is firm, with good, tart wheat malt flavors, paired with some estery fruity flavor of pear, and some banana flavor. This beer finishes with more good tart wheat malt up front, then ends with some clove spicy flavors that linger. I would have enjoyed a touch more yeasty, estery aromas and flavors, but really enjoyed this one. A good domestic example of hefeweizen. A nice summer refresher, and a good beer to match with weisswurst, or any other German fare.

22 oz bomber. Pours a murky peach color with foamy white head. Over the top citrus lemon followed by a slightly sour note. Drinkable but why?

UPDATED: OCT 23, 2008 On draft at Alpine Village. Poured with a cloudy orange hue. Nose of Clove and Banana with rich spices. Good carbonation with beautiful accents of ripe banana and spicy clove. This was a pleasure to drink.

22 oz bottle. Very good German style hefe. The banana and clove is very much there in the aroma. As others have said, the head disappears fairly quickly. Nice wheat flavor, with a bit of a spicy kick. Overall, I felt it was a top notch hefe.

22 oz. Pours a cloudy pale golden with average head. aAoma is banana, clove and wheat. Taste is about the same with mild citrus hops to back it up. Its not bad. At 2.99 for a bomber its worth a try. perfect for a hot summer day.

A really excellent beer. Drank from a 22oz. bottle. Golden in color. Banana taste and smell to it. Very enjoyable beer. A great girl beer.
