3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 TheBeerLover (1019) - DC Metro Area, USA - JUN 30, 200822 oz bomber. Pours to a hazy, deep golden color, with a thick, tall, white head, and a vibrant carbonation. The nose on this beer is inviting, with light aromas of clove, estery fruit and banana. The palate is firm, with good, tart wheat malt flavors, paired with some estery fruity flavor of pear, and some banana flavor. This beer finishes with more good tart wheat malt up front, then ends with some clove spicy flavors that linger. I would have enjoyed a touch more yeasty, estery aromas and flavors, but really enjoyed this one. A good domestic example of hefeweizen. A nice summer refresher, and a good beer to match with weisswurst, or any other German fare.

Pale yellow, slight haze, no head. Some yeast esters slight sourness in nose, not much else. Flavor is just as bland. Nothing going on at all.

Beer: What’s up with this brewery? Ratings too low Beers are good. Don’t like the Vitzen game-play, need much more beer awareness for that a label, I was confused; good news: beer is very good!

On tap at Spring Street Smokehouse in L.A. Cloudy orange with a creamy off-white head, fading to a thick ring before long. Lots of bananas in the nose with some wheat and minimal lemon. The flavor again had loads of bananas with a tinge of spice. Minimal bitterness. Medium body with low carbonation. OK at best, not much balance of the esters and phenols.

Bottle at a ucla game. Aroma of sweet malt and banana with a bit of spice. Color was a darkish gold. Flavor was similar to the aroma with some ok wheat notes. A decent, but forgettable beer.

Bottle from becmo. Slightly cloudy amber pour. Sweet mlat, bubble gum, banana, and wheat. Not very interesting. The mouthfeel is too spritzy, I prefer hefe to have a soft creamier mouthfeel.

UPDATED: JAN 11, 2011 A $3.49 bomber. Pours with a very minimal, quick to fade white head over a murky yellow body. Aroma of vanilla, bubblegum, caramel, banana, maraschino cherry, bitter hops and wheat. Taste is wheat, and mild hop flavors, with a plastic note and a ton of yeast based esters. Medium viscosity, with kind of sharp bubbles.
