At fifty cents a pop I couldn’t help but knock back many a can of Angkor - saying that, the bottled version just seems to be a different beer altogether. None the less it produces up a pale, sunny gold with a flash burst of pent up carbobnation before settling almost still. Head, little more than a seashore wash, was just as swift to fade. In the bottle the nose seems doughy and yeasty like leavened, uncooked white bread. From the can the aroma has hints of sour citrus, lemon cordial, wheat ears, cardboard and leafy hops. Highly carbonated from the bottle it is strangely soft and creamy from out the can. Again quite bready but lean from the bottle and very watery. From the can it yields up a similar profile to the nose. Leafy hops, mild bitterness, soft wheat like flavour with a sour side and sweet toasted malt front. Both are thin and strained for flavour but I found the can fresher everywhere I went in Cambodia. Just average SE Asian lager stuff here. (64cL bottle, Samaky Bar, Phnom Penh, 33cL cans throughout Cambodia)

A beer that tastes like the most international lagers. I like the mildness of this beer. It is very drinkable especially for an exotic beer. Not as bad as expected.

I find Angkor has a peculiar taste almost chemical, there was a time when this is all you could get where I was living in Cambodia but thank God or Buddha that there are now more options.
