500ml bottle (not bottle conditioned). Attractive dark copper colour. Low carbonation. Subdued aroma with hints of roast malt, but nothing very attention-grabbing. The flavour is much more interesting. Some chewy malt, but plenty of balancing fresh hop presence too. Medium bodied, with a smooth mouthfeel. Soft, but clean malt finish, again with citric hop. Overall, a well made robust, but refreshing, strong bitter that doesn't stray too far down the sweet malt route. Available from beersinabox.com

Cask Handpump at the Head Of Steam, London 11/06/2003 Golden amber coloured with some sour fruit aroma. Dry slightly roasted malt finish.
