3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Heathen (1386) - Wilmington, Delaware, USA - SEP 22, 2012
THOUGHTS: Very nice and fairly dry. Lots of apple flavor that seemed very natural and not at all artificial. Nice balance between sweet and tart.
TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a sparkling, clear, light, golden with beautiful carbonation and a small, white head that pretty much fully diminished and left surprisingly fair lacing. The aroma had apple, apple desserts, apple juice, apple skins, and a little spice. The initial flavor was lightly sweet and acidic, and light to moderately sour; while the finish was lightly acidic and moderate to heavily sour, but in a tart way with a duration that was average on flavor and long on dryness. There was apple juice, apples, apple desserts, a little spice, apple skin and apple cobbler. The light body was dry with fizzy carbonation a dry and lightly asrtingent finsh.

Bottle. Pours a hazy light orange with a thin white head. Aroma of bread and sour, tart apple with a hint of sour yogurt and diaper. Flavor is tart initially with sweeter apple in the finish. Good cider - more tart than the "Crisp Apple", less appley, but still sweet and tasty.

12oz bottle (courtesy of J&K Liquors) poured into a Flute at 42°. Color is a light, bright golden with fizzy carbonation and a small lose white head. Aroma is like apple champagne. It has a very light body with a crisp mouth feel. Flavor is light with a crisp apple taste. After taste is dry leaving a apple cider and wine taste behind. Overall its good for what it is, very light and refreshing.

It seems sammy is a little late arriving at the cider scene, no? From a bottle. Smooth apple aroma. A little waxy on the tongue. Tangy at first. Sour apple and dry. Not too much co2. Not as sweet as woodchuck but still has some unfermented sugars in ther. Good, fruity sweeter bubbly wine feel. Goes down fairly easy, yez, a little winelike fer sure. Overall much above average for a brew but about average for a cider.

Bottle at SPSBF. Pours a clear gold with a white head that dissipates quickly to the edges. Aroma has a nice dry apple note with a bit of tartness towards the finish. Flavor starts with tart apples with some sweet undertones and a dryness in the finish.

Bottle - Pours clear yellow with a thin ring of off-white head. Nose is lightly sweet apple with a hint of cinnamon. A bit of tartness as well. Taste is apple cider, a mix of sweet and dry, white grape, with medium tartness and just a touch of baking spice. Clean and crisp, with a short finish and a light clean body. White wine notes. Small-bubbled carbonation. Wasn’t impressed with this initially, but it grew on me a bit. A step up from Woodchuck. Just realized this is from Boston Beer...huh.

Bottled. Poured crystal-clear, bright golden with no head sticking around. The aroma picked up tart apple skins and lightly-spicy yeast with apple meat beneath.. fresh and fragrant. The flavor found tart apple skins and oak on the tip of the tongue, with meatier apple beneath.. dry on the edges, with floral and spicy accents.. sweet and tart apple skins and a pinch of earthy spice on the crisp, refreshing finish. Light-medium bodied and engaging on the palate.. seemed like it wanted to be too sweet at a few points, but crisp dryness always pulled it back.. nice one.
