Cask gravity, Coventry 2011. Liquorice-coloured with ruby winks and a fine khaki halo. Wow; ink, marmite-smeared aubergine and smoked almond aroma. Light bodied but deep with peaty interest, grilled vegetables, barbecue and wee dram notes. Beautiful, soft, nuanced beer. At Leicester and Cov, stick to the Scottish stuff- ye cannae go wrong with it.

@ Thompson bar (?). Dark brown-black with ruby tint and nice lacing. Nice fruity aroma has dried cherries and chocolate, with some red licorice but no roast. Soft palate. Some acidity in the finish, closes a bit thin. The tartness of sour cherries and sour plum is interesting.
