Commercial Description:
Festival beer for the 2007 St. Louis Brewers Heritage Festival. One of the most exciting parts of the festival is the Festival Brew. Each of the participating local brewers crafted their own version which attendees could judge for themselves. Dark lager was selected as a tribute to the early St. Louis brewers who typically used darker malts than today's lagers.

At the Heritage Brew Festival on tap. Pale amber pour with a decent small bead head. Light texture with a pleasant malt taste and sweetness; light hop character. This is quite good. Of course, AB is 5 miles away and brings their stuff in fresh for the festivals. If AB products tasted this fresh and good at an average pub nationwide, they’d completely control the market.

Sample at the Heritage Festival. Only got to try three of the seven St. Louis Dark Lager styles. Or a least only jotted some notes for three. Given that this one took the silver according to my notes. Filtered and amber hued. Layer of thick off-white head. Light bready with a touch floral aroma. Toasty caramel flavor. Easy drinking.

Also sampled at the Brewfest. I was proud of AB for sponsoring this event and tried to sample several of their offerings. However, I was disappointed by this one. The aftertaste was disagreeable and the flavor a bit harsh.

(tap at the brewfest) Medium brown. Mild malt aroma. Caramel malt flavor. I thought this was one of the two best tries of the festival beer.
