2.1 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 6/20 kujo9 (1085) - North Ridgeville, USA - JAN 23, 2004
UPDATED: MAY 28, 2004 Draft: Deep gold w/ a nice, lasting white head. There is still little hop aroma from this beer for an AB product, but more than usual of saaz hop as it warms. Sweeter than regular AB and a little more rounded bitterness with a saaz hop flavored finish. Closer to a Bo. Pils than any other AB product has come; also has the grainy malt flavor. Sharp biting carbonation, but smooths out after initial bite, light medium body w/ a higher carbonation. Much better than all AB products, but if as their advertisements say "10 brewmasters, 4 continents, 1 beer" states, they've wasted a lot of man power to come up with something any home brewer could do!!!!!!

Reviewed from notes.
Pours a clear golden with a thin white head and little lacing. Nose brings forth some grain and a bit of some Czech/German hops. Taste is about the same, with a bit of grain but mostly just faint hops and some carbonation. Light feel with a good amount of carbonation to carry what little flavor there is. Drinks okay, but probably has a bit too much carbonation and not much real flavor.

At least they included the whole world in naming this beer instead of just naming America. This has a pretty smooth flavor with a skunky aftertaste. Luckily I didn’t have to pay for my encouter with this watered down "select" beer

Seemed like a bud gone through the "green" phase turning an mediocre pale lager into a skunked one. Not so extraordinary.

I’ll keep this one nice and short. It basically tastes like a watered down Heineken. Maybe even a little more skunked tasting.

Had this one 3 years ago, and I didnt write this one down, so Im going a little off memory. Tasted just a liitle bit better than straw tea, but thats what most pale lagers taste like. Im not sure what makes this the world select....Oh, its the "fancier" bottle. Not saying it was terrible, just not "select". (Who selected it?)

WOW, this really is world class, world class crap. Poured a light yellow color with a white head. Aroma was pretty minimal, bready and grass. Flavor was really watery, grassy and a slight bitter corn flavor as well.

For whatever reason I really enjoyed this beer. My only regret is that it seems tha AB has discountinued it. If anyone has any comparable brew suggestions out there let me know.

I can’t believe that this was what their brewmasters came up with. I would have fired them on the spot.

This is the best their top brewmasters could come up with? It is BARELY better than Budweiser. Watery and ricey. Carbonated yet weak mouthfeel. Wow, A-B is bad. I am really happy they are Belgiums problem now.
