Grovlam (3198), Copenhagen, Denmark Dec 27, 2007 Bottle. Large thick creamy beige head that really lasted. Excellent display of lacework. Hazy dark amber color. Aroma was quit complex with notes of pear in the initial sniff. Then comes heavy caramel, nuts, yeast, almost apple, sweet pineapple, marzipan and dried fruit. Quit complex I thought. Over the palate some spices can be felt as well. Medium to full bodied with an average carbonation and light alcoholic texture. Moderated to heavy sweet flavor but well balanced with some bitter notes. Lingering sweet toasted malty base finish. This was quit lovely.
Mogwai (189), Askeby, Denmark Aug 11, 2008 Bottle. Pours a brown/dark amber aolour with a thick off-white head. Aroma is dark fruits, spices, malts, caramel, hops. Mouthfeel was thick and soft and just plain lovely. Flavor is very x-massy and sweet, with, again, dark fruits, spices, anis, liquorice and alcohol. Very good. MiP (6026), Flensburg, Germany Feb 12, 2008 Bottle, 8%. Yeasty marcipan aroma, sweet and powerful. Clear brown colour, small tan head. Good malty flavour with a nice level of alcohol/pepper. There is also some dried fruit and tobacco. I like it, but it is not exactly well-balanced. KimJohansen (4294), Copenhagen V, Denmark Jan 11, 2008 Dark amber with off white head.
