COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Anker Blonde is brewed artisnally with the best natural ingredients by the established Anker Brewery since 1369. This top fermented lager is very refreshing thanks to its balance between pale malt and refined hops. Tastes quite fresh at 6° - 8° C.

Originally sampled July 2009. Purchased at the LCBO, going under the name Margriet. Best before date is 10/02/11. This Belgian ale (which does not look like one, judging from the label) came pouring out of the bottle, and created a big white frothy head. Retention is long, lacing is patchy all around and colour of brew is a hazy golden-yellow. The nose is reminiscent of a Belgian ale, with some wit yeast and some citrus notes. Smooth mouthfeel with a little dry finish and very mild tart. Taste of a Belgian ale, with that typical malt/yeast combination and a nice light aftertaste of grain malt with a very subtle touch of honey. Quite refreshing overall and a decent Belgian ale.

Bottle at Den Stillen Genieter. Sour bubblegum flavor hints at the presence of wheat. Nice character for a blonde, a pleasant surprise.

Flowery carbonated aroma. Almost clear yellow with white foamy head that leaves foamy lacing as it thins. (A bit too) Sweet, smooth carbonated clean taste with little flavour.

Bottle from the LCBO, under the "Margriet" label. I drank this while watching TV and didn’t take an notes, but kept thinking that it was a nice, solid Belgian golden ale. Had everything I expected from the style - yellow-gold colour with a large white head; notes of spice, fruit and yeast in the aroma and flavour, with a surprisingly hoppy finish; good body that’s a bit sticky in the finish, but still refreshing. Didn’t completely wow me, but that’s OK, I just wanted something enjoyable and easy to drink, and that’s what I got.

Athos. (special edition greek bottle 750ml) Nice beer for summer time. Malty anh hops aromas. Big white head, golden color. A combination between sweet and sour. bitter finish. Good refreshing beer, but i agree with Lady_Bastet (71) it lacks character.

Bottle, 330ml. Pours a copper/golden colour with a large offwhite head with good retention, plenty of carbonation. Aroma is of dry fruits and citrus, with just a hint of alcohol. Taste is pretty heavy, with the notes from the aroma domaining. Nice.

330ml under the name Margriet. Giant white head on hazy amber. Dusty blond aroma with a soapy hop almost lavender note. Body is kind of flat and dull compared to the big head. Sugar, cardboard, dull melon and water. Is this what they drink at hockey games in Belgium.

Lady_Bastet (113) - Burlington, Ontario, CANADA - MAR 30, 2010
Pours hazy golden/amber with a large, frothy head. Aroma of soap/hay/hops but subtle. A nice balance of malts and hops with more of a lean towards the hops. A slightly bitter, quick finish that doesn’t linger long. A nice, refreshing belgian but not terribly distinctive. It lacks character overall.

Pours a light amber with a huge head. The aroma is yeasty and fresh. The taste is slightly sweet and just enough bitterness and alcohol to make a refreshing, but creamy, drink.
