Dark brown, active body and nice tan lace. Roasted, nutmeg, toffee. Decent aroma. Quite a sweet taste, dark sticky fruits and sugar. Very Belgian but not a bad attempt. Sticky mouth feel in the end. It’s decent. (On tap at Utrechts Bokbierfestival)

Draft @ Delirium Brussels.

This is a Belgian beer that you will find in Holland sooner than in Belgium, since it is a beer in the Dutch bock style (which is not te same as the German style). It is really sweet: caramel, porto, some fruits and spices. It is not hoppy, nor roasted. This is not what a bock beer should be. Still, this one is quite popular by Dutch drinkers, which is something to worry about. The old fashioned love for sweet beer has not died out. I would not recommend this as a bock. If you are looking for a sweet, easy, winy, alcoholic beer this beer however will make you very happy.

4/II/2012 on tap @ Brugs Bierfestival - BB: n/a (2012-88) Thanks to Klaas for sharing his beer!

Pretty cloudy reddish brown beer, creamy beige head, bit stable, adhesive. Aroma: very fruity, peaches, bit vinous, red wine, sangria even, some citrus, ginger bread. MF: good carbon, medium to full body. Taste: bit sweet start, malty, very bready, some citrus, spices. Aftertaste: bitter finish, more spices, some rotten fruits in the end, spoiling it a bit.

Tap @ de klikspaan, Groningen. Dark brown, small head. Sweet aroma, some smokey hints. Sweet taste, sugar, roasted malts. Medium finish. Not that special overall.

Draught @ Cafe Becoloth, Boxtel. Hazy, almost opaque dark orange color, small to medium sized lightly creamy off-white to beige head. Smell malts, wheat and lightly sweet. Taste moderately sweet, lightly earthy. Decent carbo, medium body.

Fantastic! Great burnt sugar start, then roasted chestnuts...deep malty taste very well balanced with almost a touch too much hop. A little more aroma would make this v tasty indeed. Fantastic bittersweet bock.

Van de tap. Geserveerd in mooi ankerbok glas.
