Before, Het Anker had a wide range of beers: simple table beers, lagers and various kinds of Ales. The changing beer market and the rise of specialist “lager breweries” obliged Het Anker to concentrate on brewing the special beers. That was the only way to survive the competition against other breweries. Years later, in 1998 Het Anker picks up the lager production and launches a new beer called ‘Blusser’. In 2009 it is renamed Anker Pils (Anker Lager). Cheers!

Drunk on draught in the brewery tap. Enjoyable refreshing pils but nothing particularly special. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

25 cl. draft @ Brasserie Het Anker. Hazy golden, creamy solid smaller white head, good lacing. Nose is sweeter dough, faint zest, sugar, light hop, malty, sweetish,… Taste is sweet dough, hay, sugar, faint zest, dough, light floral, creamy,… Body is creamy sweetish dough body. Too sweet for the style but very enjoyable never the less. I quite liked this beer, a lovely pilsner in Belgium, how about that ! A good drink for sure.

33cl bottle bb11/2015 (!) bought at Oud Arsenaal, A’pen, to go. Sweetish grainy aroma, heavier mf for a pilsner. Some pleasant citric meet unpleasant cardboard and banana notes, further citrus and grassy spice float on an oily bed of heavy pale malts (no corn used, but sticks like they have). Lacks definition and dryness. Not all that bad as Belgian pils goes, but that sadly is not saying much so far, especially if you are accustomed to crisp Pils simplicity, a bottom-fermenting art often underrated beyond the confines of the Reinheitsgebot.

Countbeer (5587) - Best of E-Town mit 2 Brauhausen, NETHERLANDS - OCT 27, 2013
Draught: Served in a Van Moll : Medium sized white foamy head on top of a clear brighter yellow colored beer. Aromas of hay, grains, corn, some malts, some lacto, cream and dried branches. Flavours of hay, grains, cream, bitters, corn, light sweet, herbs, some malts and a light mealy sprinkle. Aftertaste is a mix of bitters, cream, grains, soke bitters and herbs. Low carbo, creamy mouthfeel, low to medium body and a creamy texture. Easy and pretty crisp, nice beer for its style.
