Part of country 69 with Poperinge and his missus. Dark brown. Minimal bubbles. Spice and molasses aroma with a little plum. A trace of starting sourness. Smoke flavours and fruit. Rather fruity for a stout. Overall charcoal and fruit.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tasted this one on my honeymoon in Bali, and it made a pleasant change from the many Bintang’s I had managed to down. Poured into a Pilsner glass, a good dense beige head sat atop a clear deep cola brown body. The head manged to stick around until the end and laced well. Dry roasted coffee, treacle and molasses made up the aroma, quite sweet. In the mouth, flavours of vanilla and burnt sweet sugars mingled with the intense roasted coffee flavours and finish. Smooth and sweet throughout, but quite dry and cleverly balanced. Lovely!!!

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Can. Thick black clear colour. Average lasting dark brown head. Nice aroma of chocolate indeed along with roasted malt and coffe. Sweet flavour of prunes, roasted malt, coffee and somewhat fruity. Sweet aftertaste. If there was just a bit less sweetness to it it would really do good but still a nice brew.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pitch black color with a light brown head. Molassess, burnt raisins and a bit of dark chocolate notes come into play, but lacks the complexity of Panther or Guinness FES. Like Panther though lacks bitterness.

33cl Can, bought in a random supermarket on Sumatra, Indonesia. ABV 4.9%. Clear dark reddish brown to black colour, creamy beige head. Aroma is sweet, cream, roasted malts, it’s a bit like coffee with milk and sugar with some fruitiness added. Flavour is sweet, cream, light fruity, some roasted malts, light bitter finish. Light to medium bodied. Not a prime example of a stout, but still an OK and highly drinkable beer
