Bottled. Lemon aroma with a hint of vegetable. Cloudy, yellow color, white head, fair lace. Light sweet, sour lemon, hints of vegetable, light bitter, light bodied, little sticky. Too much like a Belgian White for me.

500ml bottle (William K Mannerheimintie, Helsinki)
Slightly buttery body. A little watery palate, quite fizzy. Simple wheatbeer aroma, missing the corriander, citrus and banana. Slightly minerally. Taste is more weizen-like than the aroma, but still missing something.

JoeinEscazú (1181) - San Jose, COSTA RICA - MAY 9, 2012
Draught at the Rincon Aleman in Panama City, Panama, in early 2011. Heavy on the clove-bubble gum nose, perhaps a touch more bitterness than usual for a Hefe, full creamy body. Quite fruity without being too sweet. Fairly refreshing. Not a bad beer.

(Bottle, 0.5 l, at William K Kurvi, 20120422) The beer poured yellow and cloudy. Its head was medium sized, dense, long lasting and white. Aroma had butter, clove and fruitiness. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were fruitiness, butter, clove, hint of grass and low bitterness. Aftertaste was fruity, mildy sour and bitter. Too much diacetyl for me. A bad bottle?

In short: A very yeasty muddy hefe weisen.
How: Tap at Beer O’Clock, Bucharest Romania
The look: Opaque peach color body topped by a medium white head with good retention
In long: The strong nose (for the style) has banana bread and a lot of sharp lemony acidity. Body is thick and heavy with a whole lot of yeast. Big rich banana cake, banana puree, a lot of doughy yeast, light notes of citrus fruits. A bit too heavy and muddy for the style, far from a thirst beer. I had this pint fresh from a tap but I can easily imagine a the bottle being a total trainwreck. Not a bad at all (at least on fresh on tap like the pint I’m rating) but certainly below average for a true german hefe. Nothing memorable here, just another beer I had while in Bucharest while visiting my in- laws. I’m don’t want to brag or anything, but I almost never see my in-laws.

500ml screwcap bottle poured a hazy golden color with a small creamy white head that settled to a few spots of lace. Aroma of bready grains and banana and yeast and hops. Taste is lightly sweet malts and a mild hoppy finish and also some yeast. A nice brew for this style and recommended for a tasting.

Draught at Beer O’Clock, Bucharest, Romania. Cloudy golden, creamy head. Caramelly clove and banana aroma. Sweet and soft with low carbonation and medium body. Plenty of mashed banana, some toffee and sugar, Low bitterness. On the heavy side for a weizen.
