clear amber-orange colour with almost no foam remaining; aroma of malt and licorice; initial sweetness, sticky and very tasty, malty, robust dry bitterness, long aftertaste of red fruits and spices - a solid and very pleasant brew

Tasting at Mes and Sims flat. Clear amber beer. Soft palate. Smells like a strong lager! Tastes like a strong lager! However it’s softness and creaminess make it quite drinkable.

Old amateur rating: Amber color with a good lacing head. Aroma is sweet and slightly fruity. Flavor is little to sweet.

Koelschtrinker (7034) - Köln (Cologne), North Rhine-Westphalia, GERMANY - JUN 2, 2011
9/12/11/12/11/12

Boring gold colour, decent head. Aroma is a quite strong hops smell, slight barley hints. Taste is like a Belgian blonde, lots of hops and a dry hoppy finish. All hops, really, a little bit of honey sweetness as well though. I dunno, to me, a Noël beer should be dark and reasonably heavy. This doesn’t fit that description.

Bouteille (Merci,le Quack-Duck!): Hazy, amber coloured to deep golden; at first sight hoppy, at second sight mainly (X-mas) spicy nose with a sweet grainy and yeasty background; sweet sugary flavour, quite light bodied for a beer of 7.5%, a bit sticky; finishes with aromas of cola; lemons, dried fruits and a light tartness - too - in the sweet sourish finish. Not too bad, mais tres doux......

(bottle, 75cl, courtesy of Quack-Duck) Cloudy, deep golden to amber colour with a collapsing slightly beige frothy head. Yeasty and distinctively spicy aroma with notes of ginger, cara-malt and a hoppy touch. Sweet flavour, medium bodied with a smooth carbonation. Cara-malty, slightly sugary taste with notes of black tea, citrus and ginger spice; sweet and fruity malty finish with mildly spicy notes. A tad sweet but still a likeable brew. 10.XI.10

KyotoLefty (3752) - Kyoto, JAPAN - JUN 28, 2010
Draught in Strasbourg. Deep amber, with a lot of orange. Extremely fruity. Very sweet and fruity, but it’s got a lot of hops so it’s really well balanced. There are definitely things added to it, almost like fruit juice or syrup. It’s good. A sweet finish, very interesting. A good winter or Christmas Beer.

Bottle @ Fastelavnssmagning, Ulfborg. Pours cloudy amber with a small off white head. Sweet malty and bready aroma. Medium bodied. Flavor has some tartness, fruit and a bit of alcohol. Ends dry.
