COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

It poured a hazy dark golden color with an off-white head. The aroma was of notes of fruits, straw and some malts. The taste was sweet with notes of malt, caramel, straw, some flowers with a bitter finish.

Bottle from Rare Beer Club. Pours clear apple cider copper with rocky white head. Aroma: well, that’s awfully pleasant. Bubble gum and cotton candy on the nose. Sort of a Dupont saison thing going on as well, with lemon, pepper and cracker. Taste: despite the cotton candy on the nose, this is remarkably dry. Mineral, pepper, with a short, crisp, lightly bitter finish. Bubblegum in the aftertaste. Copper finish picks up after the first few sips, but stays in check. Alcohol becomes a bit more present as well, lending something of a spicy quality. Palate: light/medium body, average carbonation. Overall: I’m actually digging this quite a bit. Wasn’t really expecting to coming into it, but I’m glad I didn’t let those reservations keep me from enjoying this one.

Also, watching Sideways while rating beer. It’s funnier than I remember it, probably because I drink ("taste") now. Of course, I’m only half an hour in as I type this, so it may fall apart before the end, but so far it ain’t bad.

750, corked. Aaaaand that’s it for the Rare Beer Club. Enough mediocre $46 shipments for this kid. Pours a hazy pale amber with a fizzy white head that hangs out for a while. Mild lemon and verbena nose, soft mineral notes. Fizzy light body. Starts out caramel, then goes coppery, then gets really coppery, and finishes really coppery.

Appearance: clear bright gold with a frothy, bubbly bright white head and decent lacing; second pour of the 750 revealed substantial sediment that changed the glass to a very hazy yellow. Aroma: bright citrus up front, with herbal honey, uncooked pie crust, green tea, and pepper. Taste: bitter citrus and floral hops, with herbal notes, a hint of tart green apple, and a bit of caramel and peppery yeast. Notes: dry, bitter, and lingering herb garden characteristics. Notes: Labeled as "Biere de Garde" but the write-up from the Rare Beer Club noted it’s the "Blonde". Pretty hoppy, herbal, and bitter for the style. Nice palate, but would have preferred a bit more honeyed sweetness to balance.

Pours a cloudy, straw-golden color with a very short-live large bubble, sudsy head. Bubble gum, Belgian spice, and banana on the nose. Full body with some light syrupiness. Flavors mimic the bouquet. Some pilsener bitterness at the finish.
