Thick dark brown body with big tan head. Rich yet very refined chocolate, tofee and brown sugar together with earthy hops and even some smoke. Interesting flavour, with light sourness, roasted malts and a humous hops it makes a great balanced and refined brew. Dry yet caramel-like aftertaste. Bubbly and never sticky body. Much better than I expected. Don’t drink too cold. (33cl bottle from Bière Révolution)

[My bottle (750ml) shared with HogTownHarry, jercraigs & mabel] Pours a very dark amber-brown with an average size semi-lasting frothy beige head. Mild aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, eggshells and some earthiness – it smells a bit old. Flavour’s a bit better, malty with light hops, nuts and chocolate. Average to medium bodied. Just good, not great.

Sample at SBWF 2015. Black with a tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, some grass, caramel and some light fruit. Similar taste, also with chocolate. Medium bitter and a quite tasty one.

330ml bottle. Jet black colour with huge, frothy, almost fully lasting, minimally lacing, tan head. Chocolately, dark malty aroma, notes of cocoa, dark fruit, raisin, blueberry, some dusty, yeasty overtones. Taste is dry, chocolately dark malty, notes of cocoa, some roast, hints of dark fruit, raisin, blueberry; way overcarbonated.

Dommage !

Short living brown head, hazy opaque beer. Aroma: burned, roasted, light dry alcohol notes, some ash. Taste: bitter and burned. Flavour: burned robusta, roasted black bread, some alcohol and wine notes. Some grassy hops, some spicy herbs. Long bitter aftertaste with light sweeteness and dusty nose. Very good, all burned with pleasant dry alcohol notes.

2015-08-26. Black body with a small brown head. 3++ Aroma is lightly earthy, dusty roast and dark malt. Flavour is roughly bitter, herbal, light alcohol throughout. Average plus bodied palate, good carbonation. 3+ Kind of rough overall. The question of why it’s "smout" instead of "stout" is far more interesting than anything in the bottle unfortunately. In fairness it likely suffers partly in comparison to better beers we had tonight. Possibly just a little bit off? Bottle shared by Blankboy.

330ml bottle from Saveur-Biere.fr. Pours deep brown with creamy beige head. Taste presents a rather weak brune, a touch over-carbonated with bitter roasted elements and a touch of tang. Not amazing.

Dark brown color with mocha head. Roasty, coffee like aroma with a hint of dark fruits. Taste is also coffee forward with just a hint of smokiness, or more exactly ashy. Aftertaste has quite bitter roasty notes. Body is quite light for an imperial stout but this makes the beer very drinkable. Alcohol is also well hidden. Overall this was a very nice surprise as I was not expecting such a well made beer.

Bottled at Keyaki, Spring 2015. Pitch black, full lovely head like a chocolate milkshake. Creamy, roasty, full-on nose. Chocolate and coffee. Flavor is roasty and sweet, a bit funky and medicinal, phenolic. Quite nice, but the nose kills the flavor.
