COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The romantic term "barley wine" is used for the beers with an alcoholic content similar to the one of the wine. Of color bronze, the Antares Barley Wine is a hard licorosa beer and maltose, with an intense frutado accent, that remembers white grapes to us, originating of leavenings.

(330ml bottle) Courtesy of Lubiere. Thanks! Lasting white thin frothy head with a mild orange body. So light? Not as expected. Nose of mild prunes and weak nail polish. Flavour is oily, scotch, malty and iodine. Pretty good stuff considering the origins. Thanks Luc!

UPDATED: NOV 2, 2006 Pours a deep but clear liquid honey color with almost no head. It shows a modrate off-white lacing. Strong malty aroma with notes of licorice, camomille, vanilla and honey. Very nice. Some hoppy hints come out after a little agitation with a slight orange touch. Flavor is sweet with traces of ripe fruits like peaches, apricots, mango and soft orange notes. Good development while temperature increases. It finishes bitter. This is strange, but this Barley Wine is very drinkable, not as heavy as I expected. I could easily drink a 330 ml bottle. Thick Syrupy texture, carbonation is soft. Sticky finish and highly alcoholic. The first REAL beer I have tasted from Argentina.

Thanks to <a href=http://www.ratebeer.com/View-User-5855.htm> Lubiere for bringing this one from the other side of the Andes

Amber-honey color, very clear body with few bubbles. Small off-white head, fair lacing that sticks to the walls. Sweet aroma of honey, grains, peach and mango fruit, malty and smoothly hoppy with a dominant presence of alcohol. Its taste resembles camomille liquor (or is it camomille grappa?), it is just like a typical Chilean afterdinner drink; it is strongly alcoholic but not at all disgusting. Its body is light to medium but very siroupy/oily. Its finish is bitter. Softly carbonated.

Draft - December 05 Pours a deep golden colour with no head. Carbonatation is subtle, it smells fruity with some fussels clearly and unfortunately being present. There is a touch of alcohol burnt here and it disturbs the palate distracting you from appreciating other aspects, hops are not present, only in balancing the very basic malt background. I tend to be genereous with this one, as i have no barley wine to benchmark.
