It is an ok barleywine and just kinda washed out and does not have the malt concentration that defines a good barley wine to me....nothing special.....but nice to try
Crosling (1605), Loveland, Colorado, USA Jul 23, 2008 Very light and clear golden color with a small head that quickly dies. Nose mainly smells of manure, but also shows light traces of sweet malts. Flavor is very sweet, simple and light, devoid of much describable character. Light hints of rough, grainy malts, along with similar manure notes as in the nose. This has to be one of the worst BW’s out there. blutt59 (520), Dallas, Texas, USA Jul 17, 2008 bottle, orange color with creamy white head, fruity nose and bitter fruit flavors, alcohol is pronounced and finish is slighlty watery Doggythedog (921), Split, Croatia Jul 11, 2008 RBESG08 grand tasting So I DID have it. Funny enough, I didn’t remember having it after I’ve seen the empty bottle near the end of the tasting. Definitely not a thing to brag about. Murky orange colour. Malt, some soy sauce and alcohol in the nose. Sweet malty taste, with some eggs, bad graininess and alcohol. I really didn’t like it all that much it seems, which would explain why I chose to forget about it. ekstedt (1739), Göteborg, Sweden Jul 7, 2008 Sampled at the RBESG08 grand tasting. Cloudy orange with medium white head. Fruity and nutty with some herbal hops. Medium bodied and smooth. Nicely balanced. Perhaps not the most complex BW out there, but strangely underrated. cgarvieuk (2160), Edinburgh, Scotland Jul 7, 2008 bottle at RBESG ... Juicy tary hoppy nose ... not really a barly wine ... juicy and fruity .. ok but def not a baley wine
