(Bottle 33 cl) Pours an opaque dark brown with an orange hue and a dense, light brown head. Aroma of burned malt and alcohol. Quite full-bodied with hard roasted malts, licorice and a little tar. Fairly malt bitter finish. Solid but a little raw and unrefined. 200908

Bottled: Pours dark, reddish brown with a nice head. Light roasty aroma with notes of caramel. Very roasty flavour with notes of sweet liquorice leading to a salty finish. Some unpleasant plastic flavour is unfortunately also there.

[1330-20080508] 330mL bottle. Sweet sugary molasses aroma with raisin malt hints. Murky, dark brown red body with medium-lasting creamy light tan bubbles. Sweet roasted raisin fruit flavour has a dry solid finish and a burnt malt aftertaste. Full body is a little dry. Interesting but quite burnt.

courtesy of Per Forsgren, 8.5% - clear dark ruby-brown colour with almost no foam left; slightly roasted, aroma of cola, prune and caramel; good malt body and a solid carbonation, sweet and fairly bitter; long roasted chocolatey finish with more prunes and cola - solid and very malty

on tap-pours a tan head that laces and brown color with red highlights. Aroma is roasty, medium malt-chocolate, alcohol. Taste is roasty/tar, medium malt-chocolate, some fruit-raisins, alcohol. Slightly syrupy. Not full body, a medium body that at times seems to have a watery back drop.

2008-05-08. Very dark brown body with a modest creamy tan head. (3+) Sweet caramel malt aroma, muted roast. (7+) Similar flavour with light roast, sweet malty middle. Bitterness from the roast and hops grows to a peak in the finish. (7+) Smooth average to medium palate. (3+) Nice. My score is a bit higher than I expected... but so be it. Bottle: Thanks to my girlfriend who visited Argentina. Brown pour with an amber hue. (Clarity on an Imperial Stout is a bad sign) Has an earthy and slightly smoky aroma, with a dirty cocoa touch. Mouth feel is watery, with a very deep smoky flavor. There’s also an ethanol note in there. Some dark, mildly charred malt, but it leans toward smoky all through out (reminiscent of burning tobacco) Surprisingly decent, and if tasted blind I would’ve guessed it to be a Smoked beer.

Aroma is quite sweet with some light buttery notes. Opaque black body is topped by a low off white head that recedes quite rapidly to ring. Strong roasted malt character offsets a lot of residual sweetness and it is still quite palatable but I fear some cardboard-like oxidation has got the better of this bottle. Full bodied with plenty of effervescence that engages the tongue. I have to say that I am quite enjoying this despite some obvious issues that may be related to travel or storage. Tulip glass. Cellar temperature. Bottle (Brewery Creek, Dec-07).

Svesse (5197) - Hässelby, SWEDEN - FEB 7, 2008
(Bottle, Monk’s Café, Stockholm, 6 Feb 2008) Almost black colour with ruby hints, frothy brown head. Roasted, malty nose with notes of chocolate and coffee. Roasted, malty taste with chocolate, cocoa, tobacco and a dry finish with hints of cocoa bitterness. Medium body, dry. Good balance. Nice and tasty, but could use slightly more edge.
