jerc (3035), Toronto, Ontario, Canada May 9, 2008 2008-05-08. Very dark brown body with a modest creamy tan head. (3+) Sweet caramel malt aroma, muted roast. (7+) Similar flavour with light roast, sweet malty middle. Bitterness from the roast and hops grows to a peak in the finish. (7+) Smooth average to medium palate. (3+) Nice. My score is a bit higher than I expected... but so be it. Bottle shared by Jon Walker
Bov (4559), Bienne, Switzerland Jul 1, 2008 courtesy of Per Forsgren, 8.5% - clear dark ruby-brown colour with almost no foam left; slightly roasted, aroma of cola, prune and caramel; good malt body and a solid carbonation, sweet and fairly bitter; long roasted chocolatey finish with more prunes and cola - solid and very malty jcwattsrugger (3721), Florida and, New Jersey, USA May 24, 2008 on tap-pours a tan head that laces and brown color with red highlights. Aroma is roasty, medium malt-chocolate, alcohol. Taste is roasty/tar, medium malt-chocolate, some fruit-raisins, alcohol. Slightly syrupy. Not full body, a medium body that at times seems to have a watery back drop. PilsnerPeter (1303), Flushing, New York, USA Mar 12, 2008 Bottle: Thanks to my girlfriend who visited Argentina. Brown pour with an amber hue. (Clarity on an Imperial Stout is a bad sign) Has an earthy and slightly smoky aroma, with a dirty cocoa touch. Mouth feel is watery, with a very deep smoky flavor. There’s also an ethanol note in there. Some dark, mildly charred malt, but it leans toward smoky all through out (reminiscent of burning tobacco) Surprisingly decent, and if tasted blind I would’ve guessed it to be a Smoked beer. tiggmtl (4148), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Feb 7, 2008 Aroma is quite sweet with some light buttery notes. Opaque black body is topped by a low off white head that recedes quite rapidly to ring. Strong roasted malt character offsets a lot of residual sweetness and it is still quite palatable but I fear some cardboard-like oxidation has got the better of this bottle. Full bodied with plenty of effervescence that engages the tongue. I have to say that I am quite enjoying this despite some obvious issues that may be related to travel or storage. Tulip glass. Cellar temperature. Bottle (Brewery Creek, Dec-07).
