COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Josh's translation of the Spanish description: Ale (top-fermentation) has many followers at the Brewpub Antares, in Mar del Plata. A flashy ruby colour, fruity taste and malt accent are typical of beers in this style. And this is as well – because in Scotland – the place where Scotch Ale was born – the climate is good for barley, but not so friendly for hops. Antares Scotch is a beer with a full body. The alcohol level of 6%abv is virtually unnoticeable. It is recommended that Scotch ales should be served at 10C. This is ideal for drinking alone, or with beef, pork or pizza.

Thanks Fukito! A sweet beer with some bitternes. Pleasant fruity notes, a little dry. I’m not used to Scotch ales, but this one seems ok.

UPDATED: APR 2, 2012 Aroma dulce como a malta caramelo y levemente tostado, de color rojizo muy transparente y espuma de color levemente tostado. Sabor a malta con final seco como a caramelo tostado.

One of the best dark beers available in Argentina from a commercial bottler. Sweet and thick. Hints of chocolate and caramel. Strong afterstate, average to medium aroma.

I try this ale years ago on tap and the bottled version, and I remember that it had a noticeable hop aroma (like all Antares beers) and perhaps a little too bitter to be a Scotch. But days ago I get a 660cc boltle in the supermarket and I was really impressed. No hop aroma. I finally found a great roasted malt aroma with some toffe notes. It pours with a good head that was in the glass all the way. Fantastic deep copper colour. The taste was surprisingly sweet as I expected from a Scotch Ale, with a noticeable hop bitterness only at finish. Rich roast malt an caramel flavors. Some alcoholic character. I enjoy it.
