COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Josh's translation of the Spanish description: Ale (top-fermentation) has many followers at the Brewpub Antares, in Mar del Plata. A flashy ruby colour, fruity taste and malt accent are typical of beers in this style. And this is as well – because in Scotland – the place where Scotch Ale was born – the climate is good for barley, but not so friendly for hops. Antares Scotch is a beer with a full body. The alcohol level of 6%abv is virtually unnoticeable. It is recommended that Scotch ales should be served at 10C. This is ideal for drinking alone, or with beef, pork or pizza.

I try this ale years ago on tap and the bottled version, and I remember that it had a noticeable hop aroma (like all Antares beers) and perhaps a little too bitter to be a Scotch. But days ago I get a 660cc boltle in the supermarket and I was really impressed. No hop aroma. I finally found a great roasted malt aroma with some toffe notes. It pours with a good head that was in the glass all the way. Fantastic deep copper colour. The taste was surprisingly sweet as I expected from a Scotch Ale, with a noticeable hop bitterness only at finish. Rich roast malt an caramel flavors. Some alcoholic character. I enjoy it.

There is a very light aftertaste of oak. Soft carbonation, red colour. Nothing special - unremarkable scotch ale. 500ml bottle in Mar del Plata after hanging around teh Dakar 2012 rally opening.

Poured from a large bottle into a glass mug to drink. The beer had a brown soda-like color with a lot of rising bubbles and a bubbly tan head that had short retention and little cling. The aroma featured heavy earthly malty tones with caramel and a good bit of grainy and perhaps pine hops. Its taste was somewhat sweet and malty, with a bit of grain and some molasses. The beer had good lively fizz on the palate and a medium-density with some dryness. One of the better beers I have had in Argentina.

Pours red amber colour with a tan head. Far malty and roasty aroma with hints of dry fruits. Mild malty taste, refreshing, light sweetness ans some very light smoky notes in the flavour. light body, oily feel, average to soft carbonation and malty, smoked and light bitter after taste. Good.
