Svesse (1499), Hässelby, Sweden Feb 9, 2008 (Bottle, Monk’s Café, Stockholm, 8 Feb 2008) Mahogany colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, grainy nose with notes of toffee, nuts and dark fruit. Malty, nutty taste with dark fruit, grain, caramel, chocolate and a short whiff of earthy bitterness in the finish. Malt dominates this tasty beer, but the finish is a bit short. Nice one. CapFlu (3247), Victoria, British Columbia, Canada Jan 7, 2008 (660ml bottle) Obtained in a trade with mgermani. Large frothy white head with a deep ruby red body. Nose is very enjoyably scotch and malty. Slightly husky and woody but mainly a smooth enjoyable finish. This from someone not terribly fussed on the style.
