Commercial Description:
Josh's translation of the Spanish description: Ale (top-fermentation) has many followers at the Brewpub Antares, in Mar del Plata. A flashy ruby colour, fruity taste and malt accent are typical of beers in this style. And this is as well – because in Scotland – the place where Scotch Ale was born – the climate is good for barley, but not so friendly for hops. Antares Scotch is a beer with a full body. The alcohol level of 6%abv is virtually unnoticeable. It is recommended that Scotch ales should be served at 10C. This is ideal for drinking alone, or with beef, pork or pizza.

Bottle at Paul’s Hoboken Gathering: Copper with a thin head. The aroma is odd with some tobacco and old dust. Thin body with a graininess, some mild hay and brown sugar. Somewhat vacant and boring.

Poured a clear amber color with a thin off-white head. Dirty ashy caramel aroma. Caramel malt flavor with earthy notes. Light to medium bodied.

(Bottle, Monk’s Café, Stockholm, 8 Feb 2008) Mahogany colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, grainy nose with notes of toffee, nuts and dark fruit. Malty, nutty taste with dark fruit, grain, caramel, chocolate and a short whiff of earthy bitterness in the finish. Malt dominates this tasty beer, but the finish is a bit short. Nice one.

(660ml bottle) Obtained in a trade with mgermani. Large frothy white head with a deep ruby red body. Nose is very enjoyably scotch and malty. Slightly husky and woody but mainly a smooth enjoyable finish. This from someone not terribly fussed on the style.
