COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Josh's translation of the Spanish description: Ale (top-fermentation) has many followers at the Brewpub Antares, in Mar del Plata. A flashy ruby colour, fruity taste and malt accent are typical of beers in this style. And this is as well – because in Scotland – the place where Scotch Ale was born – the climate is good for barley, but not so friendly for hops. Antares Scotch is a beer with a full body. The alcohol level of 6%abv is virtually unnoticeable. It is recommended that Scotch ales should be served at 10C. This is ideal for drinking alone, or with beef, pork or pizza.

A copper ale with a thin mocha head. In aroma, sweet caramel with chocolate notes, smooth and powdery. In mouth, a sweet scotch caramel with faint butterscotch. Bottle at Mondiale 2012, June 7 2012.

Pours a cloudy orange colour with a creamy off-white head. Aroma is sweet malt and some caramel and hints of butter. Taste is also sweet malt and caramel with slight bready notes leading to a mildly sweet caramel finish with no bitterness. Not bad.

Sampled at the brewpub. A nice crisp brew. The alcohol on the palate is sharp. Still refreshing and worth another try.

@Mondial de la Bière 2012, Montreal - clear amber beer with a poor head retention; earthy, barely malty; medium-bodied; quite velvety flowery finish - not a scotch

Aroma: sweet sugars, caramel, ripe fruit feel behind. OK.
Appearance: fine haze on amber with medium fine creamy top.
Palate / Taste: strong grainy , husky feel. Musky hints. Slight oxidation. Flat end. Quiet malty but , sweet but not much else. Lacking alcohol warmth to balance its sugars.

There is a very light aftertaste of oak. Soft carbonation, red colour. Nothing special - unremarkable scotch ale. 500ml bottle in Mar del Plata after hanging around teh Dakar 2012 rally opening.

Bottle at a tasting. Thanks eyes_wide_shut. Pours red to orange with a small head, aroma of burnt caramel, nuts and cherry liquor, flavor is dull with bread, caramel, wheat and chemical burn, light bodied.
