You may have taken a draw of this Belgian brew in the past, during your afternoon "client relations" meetings at Brasserie Beck. The double blonde was developed with the help of some intense Belgian brewers (as if there’s any other kind) known as the Brouwerij De Musketiers, and it actually helped Thor Cheston, Beck’s beer director, get knighted by the beer guild in Brussels.

And now, for the first time, they’re bottling it. It comes in a 750ml version—complete with corks and wire cages—and, at this very minute, it’s on a ship approaching our shores, where it’s due to arrive any day (icebergs notwithstanding) for your closer-to-home client relations. When it gets here, expect something citrusy and yeasty, but a little less potent than your typical Belgian

Commissioned for Restaurants by Robert Wiedmaier.

draft at Blue Monk, golden blonde pour, light aroma with some sweet maltiness. Flavors of sweet malts, touch of citrus, candi sugar, grassy notes. Flavor falls flat i the finish. OK

Bottle… Clear golden ale with a huge, frothy, white head. Great retention. The bouquet is a swirl of bread dough, biscuit, plum and faint clove. Medium-bodied and lightly creamy with prickly carbonation. The flavor is a bittersweet medley of fruitcake and cookie dough. Finishes crisp and bready with mild, lingering bitterness.

It is a long story about how i ended up with this beer and i blame felton for bogarting a much more rare beer and sticking this one in my bag. Pours a clear yellow with a big frothy white head. Nice fruit and spice and hops and sweetness. This is a pretty well balanced beer. Banana flavors followed up with some grassy hops and a bit of sweet malt tying it all together. Had low expectations but am pleasantly surprised.

Location/Date:Draft at Mussel Bar, 11/22/2011.

Appearance: Pours a nice yellow haze.
Aroma: AROMA
Taste: Mild hop, some citrus to it, maybe a hint of sour.
Palate:Medium light body, slight after, a little bit more boozy than expected..

Summary: I enjoyed this Belgian ale, it’s not as sweet as others and a little bit more alcohol forward on the end, but altogether nice.

Huge, fluffy, whipped-eggwhitelike, yellowish head, leaving lacerings over bright, if veiled orange beer. Herbal, garden herbs and malty nose, fresh-smelling. Light-bitterish citrus, very yeasty flavours, estery; finish is herbal-bitterish. Slight, near-hidden restsweetness with flavours of mandarine- or curaçaopeel. Medium bodied, quite slick, and head texture present throughout. Quite good beer... Txs to K.! 27 Unitedstaters and 1 Québecois, would appear I really got hold of a rare one! The Ursel Connection...

25.4 oz bottle. Foggy gold with a slowly receding fluffy white head. Lacy rings remain. An extra point for the cool label. Nose is banana, toffee and marshmallow with hints of citrus. Bubbly medium body, a tad oily. Taste is lemon, bubblegum and grass. Nice bitter finish with some grapefruit. Very quaffable.

Bottle. Moderate malt and hop aromas of grain, straw and lemon, light to moderate dough for the yeast, with a big dose of ripe pear and hints of white wine, coriander and other light spices in the background. Head is large, frothy, white with fair lacinf and is mostly diminishing. Color is murky amber. Flavor starts faintly sweet and lightly to moderately acidic, then finishes lightly acidic and lightly to moderately bitter. Palate is on the lighter side of medium, watery with a carbonation between lively and fizzy. Nice aromas, light on flavor, but overall this is a pretty good Belgian Ale.

750 c&c from Total Wine in Sacramento, CA. Pours hazy dark gold with a foamy/creamy 4 finger off-white head. Aromas of citrus, yeast/spice, a soupçon of earth. Maybe pineapple? Med body. It is pleasant, earthy, yeasty, and citrusy bitter? Or herby bitter? Really quite nice.
