You may have taken a draw of this Belgian brew in the past, during your afternoon "client relations" meetings at Brasserie Beck. The double blonde was developed with the help of some intense Belgian brewers (as if there’s any other kind) known as the Brouwerij De Musketiers, and it actually helped Thor Cheston, Beck’s beer director, get knighted by the beer guild in Brussels.

And now, for the first time, they’re bottling it. It comes in a 750ml version—complete with corks and wire cages—and, at this very minute, it’s on a ship approaching our shores, where it’s due to arrive any day (icebergs notwithstanding) for your closer-to-home client relations. When it gets here, expect something citrusy and yeasty, but a little less potent than your typical Belgian

Golden coloured and hazy. Has a white head. Aroma is sweet, yeasty. Flavor starts sweet too, lightly toasted and finish moderate bitter.

Bottle. In tulip. Beautiful orange blonde pour with lasting head. Fresh aromas of citrus, cactus, figs, orange. Yeast deposit reveals cheese, some saison hints. Taste resembles a slightly citric saison, copper undertone, hints of cauliflower, development towards a faint cheese taste. Not bad.

Golden colour with fluffy head. Interesting flavour with yeast and candy up front and a light fruity tartness coming later.

33cl bottle, 7%. Nice label :) pours golden in color, frothy white head. Soapy, almost perfumy aroma, dried apricots as well, some wheat. Flavor is quite sweet, with some honey, malt, apricots. Finishes more dry, with some spicy notes. Drinkable, but not that fond of the sweetness.

(The Musketeers Antigoon) From the brewery that gave us those nice Troubadour beers, I am curious about this one. Bottle 330 ml at home, served into a tulip, ABV 7% Clear body, pale orange in colour, with a good sized white head on top, thick and with good retention. Medium lacing on the glass. Typical belgian ale aroma, much stronger when it’s poured but it faints out fast. Eventually some apricot and peach, light yeast, a bit nutty too. Taste is okay, again nothing out of the ordinary, more nutty now, yeast, light apricot. Slightly bitter aftertaste. Medium body, good carbonation. After all this was quite mediocre and average, okay to drink but nothing to write home about.

Somewhat sweet with a little bitterness, a very Belgian beer. Hard to miss. Nothing new, nothing bad. Bottle from De Zwart in Wilnis.

Bottle thanks to Eric. Pours a cloudy yellow with creamy medium white head leaving spotty lacing. The aroma is strong funk, wheat and coriander. Medium mouthfeel with nice citrus, spice and lingering dry finish. Good.
